XPENG G9L Successfully Completes Production Trial in Austria Ahead of European Launch
XPENG G9L Completes First Production Trial in Europe
XPENG, a prominent global entity in the field of Physical AI, has officially completed the production trial of its Next-Gen AI flagship SUV, G9L, at Magna's state-of-the-art vehicle manufacturing facility located in Graz, Austria. This marks a significant leap for the company as G9L becomes the fourth model to be produced in Europe, joining the ranks of the G6, G9, and P7+ that are already active in production.
Following this important milestone, the initial European G9L is set to embark on a journey covering 1,324 kilometers from Graz to Paris, leading up to its grand debut at the Paris Motor Show scheduled for October 12. This journey aims to test the vehicle's performance, safety features, and charging capabilities through real-world conditions, utilizing cutting-edge AI technologies.
Accelerating European Localization Strategy
The introduction of G9L reflects XPENG's commitment to localizing manufacturing while integrating global vehicle development standards. This effort ensures that XPENG's vehicles resonate with European customer preferences while adhering to international quality requirements.
As a part of this localization strategy, XPENG has already made significant inroads in European markets, having delivered over 100,000 vehicles worldwide, with more than 60,000 in Europe alone. Specifically in France, XPENG has successfully placed over 6,000 vehicles since its market entry two years ago. Their overseas deliveries surged by 81% year-on-year, exceeding 20,000 units in the second quarter of 2026, contributing 25% of the company's first-half revenue with an average selling price of €40,000.
Global Model Development
The G9L is being developed with an eye toward global scalability. It plans to launch across 64 countries and regions, having undergone rigorous validation against international standards over a period of three years. This validation effort has covered 26 countries, racking up approximately 6.74 million kilometers of extensive road testing. Crucially, it has successfully completed 192 crash tests and 110 testing protocols, ensuring compliance with various driving configurations.
The vehicle is engineered to surpass four major global five-star safety standards: E-NCAP, A-NCAP, C-NCAP, and C-IASI. With a robust combination of active and passive safety systems and a dual safety architecture, the G9L offers advanced features that prioritize user safety amidst diverse driving conditions. Notably, its testing regime even included an innovative seven-stage
