Hyuga Kiuchi, a dedicated athlete in BMX racing and a recipient of the JPF Scholarship, recently visited the headquarters of JPF to meet with CEO Shuntarou Watanabe. This visit held special significance as Kiuchi was unable to attend the scholarship awarding ceremony on April 1 due to his participation in overseas training. During the visit, he was officially awarded his scholarship certificate, marking an important moment in his career.
In addition to receiving his certificate, Kiuchi shared insights on his achievements from last season, including securing 16th place at the UCI BMX Racing World Cup and earning a silver medal at the Asian Championships. He also discussed his participation in the PIST6 Pump Track Clinic, emphasizing his commitment to promoting the love of cycling among diverse age groups, from children to adults. Kiuchi stated, “Creating an environment that serves as an 'entry point' for starting cycling is vital. As communities expand, I believe the population of cycling enthusiasts will fortunately grow.”
Currently based in France, Kiuchi has immersed himself in local sports culture and competition environments, which has further informed his studies. He is working on a thesis focused on the differences in sports culture between Japan and France while attending Nippon Sport Science University majoring in Sports Management.
Looking ahead to this season, Kiuchi has set ambitious goals for himself, including reaching the finals at the BMX Racing World Cup, excelling at the World Championships, and obtaining a gold medal at the Asian Games. His continuous efforts are supported by JPF, which is committed to not just applauding competitive achievements, but also fostering the growth of cycling culture and nurturing future generations of athletes.
In addition to Kiuchi’s endeavors, JPF has announced that some upcoming competitions will be broadcast on the UCI official YouTube channel. Interested viewers can find related links and details to catch the action online.
