The charming world of the "Kobito" series, created by Toshitaka Nabata, is set to come alive at GALLERY ZENON in Kichijoji, Tokyo. From October 24 to November 24, 2025, this enchanting festival invites families, young adults, and loyal fans to dive into the whimsical and educational universe of these mysterious creatures.

Celebrating over 3.1 million copies sold, the Kobito series has become a beloved staple for children and their families since its debut over 19 years ago. With its fascinating visuals and heartwarming stories, the series cultivates a sense of wonder about the 'Kobito,' creatures that seem to exist just beyond our reach.

At GALLERY ZENON, guests will encounter a myriad of activities designed to engage the senses and spark creativity:

- Kobito Planetarium: An immersive experience exploring the fantastical land of Kobito.
- Challenging Kobito Quiz: Test your knowledge with difficult questions for a chance to earn a certification!
- Kobito Craft Workshop: Create your own Kobito-themed crafts including paper crowns, origami, and artwork.
- Science Exhibits: Get a unique insight into the folklore of Kobito and their purported habitats.
- Kobito Scent Experience: Engage your sense of smell as you discover the various scents associated with these elusive beings.
- Photo Spots: Become a Kobito for the day at specially designed photo areas.
- Merchandise: Exclusive Kobito goods will be available for purchase, from classics to the latest designs.
- Collaboration Café: Enjoy themed food and drinks that celebrate the Kobito phenomenon.

A special Illustration Signing Event with author Toshitaka Nabata is scheduled for the last day, November 24th, where attendees can get a personal sketch of their favorite Kobito (lottery-based participation).

Joining the Fun

To participate in the signing event, guests can receive a lottery ticket by purchasing Kobito merchandise worth ¥1,100 at the gallery shop. Tickets will be available from October 24 to November 16, with the application deadline at 11:59 PM on November 16. Entry to the gallery shop is free, making it accessible for all who want to enjoy the magic of Kobito.

In an additional collaborative project, from October 11 to December 21, participants can embark on a treasure hunt in collaboration with local bookstores in the Kichijoji area. By locating the mischievous Kobito, Arashikurobane, and submitting a report at three of six designated locations, participants can earn unique Kobito-themed novelties.

The Kobito series commemorates its 20th anniversary in 2026. Initially introduced by Nabata in an illustrated book where the protagonist discovers a creature that is neither insect nor plant, Kobito has captured the imagination of countless readers. Despite their strange appearances, these creatures have found a special place within the hearts of children, leading to a phenomenon where kids eagerly embark on quests to find evidence of their existence.
