Cohen Veterans Network's Ambitious International Expansion
Cohen Veterans Network (CVN), a prominent non-profit organization focusing on providing mental health care for post-9/11 veterans, is making a significant international expansion. With a commitment to enhance the lives of American military families stationed overseas, CVN is collaborating with the Army & Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) to introduce five dedicated mental health clinics in Asia. Located within U.S. military bases in Japan and South Korea, these clinics promise to deliver high-quality accessible mental health care for military families and federal employees.
A Milestone for Military Family Support
This outreach marks a pivotal moment for CVN as it represents its first foray into international territories, addressing the unique mental health challenges faced by American military families abroad. Dr. Anthony Hassan, the President and CEO of CVN, expressed enthusiasm about this expansion, stating, "This expansion overseas represents a significant milestone for Cohen Veterans Network as, for the first time, we are extending our care to U.S. military families stationed abroad."
Planned Locations and Opening Dates
The initial clinics are projected to commence operations in the fall of 2026, with Camp Foster in Okinawa, Japan, and Camp Humphreys in Pyeongtaek, South Korea serving as the inaugural sites. Additional clinics will open subsequently at Kadena Air Base, Yokota Air Base in Tokyo, and Osan Air Base, all located in Japan and South Korea. This initiative responds directly to the substantial need for mental health resources within these communities, particularly as military families frequently face relocation and transition challenges.
Services Provided
CVN’s clinics will operate at no cost to the government and will function as a crucial resource for addressing various mental health issues that may affect military families—ranging from depression and anxiety to PTSD and family dynamics. Qualified U.S.-licensed clinicians will provide targeted, evidence-based treatment, ensuring the highest standard of care. Services will encompass individual therapy, couples therapy, family counseling, and group sessions, available both in-person and via CVN's Telehealth services.
The Importance of Accessible Care
Recognizing the challenges military families encounter, Gen. Joseph L. Lengyel USAF (Ret.), Chairman of the Board at CVN, emphasized how crucial accessibility to care is for maintaining operational efficiency and morale within the ranks. “Taking care of families is a force multiplier for the military,” he stated, reaffirming the necessity of ensuring families receive the support they need.
A Tribute to Commitment
Since its inception in 2016, CVN has grown significantly, providing over 845,000 clinical sessions to more than 93,000 clients across the United States. This international expansion signifies not just growth, but a heartfelt commitment to enhancing the well-being of military families who often face unique mental health strains while serving away from their home country.
With this planned expansion, Cohen Veterans Network continues to honor its founding promise and mission to deliver effective, compassionate mental health care to those who have sacrificed so much for the nation. As military families transition to both life abroad and periodic relocations, having immediate access to mental health support stands to make a profound difference in their quality of life and overall well-being.
