Tencent Music Entertainment Group Posts Strong Q3 2025 Financial Results



On November 12, 2025, Tencent Music Entertainment Group (TME), listed on NYSE and HKEX, published its unaudited financial results for the third quarter ending September 30, 2025. The figures revealed significant growth across multiple sectors of their music and audio entertainment platform, reflecting the company's strategic direction and innovation.

Financial Highlights



The results indicated total revenues of RMB 8.46 billion (approximately USD 1.19 billion), marking a significant year-over-year growth of 20.6%. This increase was primarily attributed to an impressive rise in revenues from online music services. Online music services alone contributed RMB 6.97 billion (USD 979 million), achieving a 27.2% increase compared to the same period last year.

Revenues from music subscriptions stood at RMB 4.50 billion (USD 632 million) with a 17.2% growth, highlighting the company's successful strategies in enhancing subscription offerings. Notably, the average revenue per user per month (ARPPU) for online music users grew from RMB 10.8 in Q3 2024 to RMB 11.9 this year.

In terms of profitability, net profit attributable to equity holders reached RMB 2.15 billion (USD 302 million), reflecting a robust growth of 36.0% year-over-year. The diluted earnings per American Depositary Share (ADS) were RMB 1.38 (USD 0.19), up from RMB 1.01 in the same quarter last year.

Operational Achievements



Despite facing a modest contraction of 4.3% in monthly active users (MAUs) for online music services, which dropped to 551 million, the increase in the number of paying users was encouraging. The number of paying users rose by 5.6% to 125.7 million, underlining a stronger inclination towards subscription-based services.

TME's operational strategy revolved around broadening their music offerings by enhancing partnerships with renowned record labels and artists. The company renewed contracts with popular musicians and incorporated new international collaborations, which included agreements with leading Japanese and Korean labels focusing on diverse music genres.
