Okayama University Participates in APAIE 2025

Okayama University, headquartered in Okayama City, recently showcased its international initiatives at the APAIE 2025 conference held in Delhi, India. This significant event took place from March 24 to 28, drawing over 2,200 representatives from higher education institutions across 55 countries. The university was represented by Associate Professor Takuo Inamori from the Graduate School of Global Human Resource Development and Kazumi Katoya, Head of the International Education Promotion Division.

The APAIE 2025 conference serves as a prominent platform for higher education institutions in the Asia-Pacific region to discuss collaborative opportunities and promote student exchanges. During the conference, Inamori and Katoya engaged in dynamic discussions concerning the globalization of education and strategies for enhancing student mobility.

In addition to participating in discussions, Okayama University took the opportunity to promote its strengths and offerings at the 'Study in Japan' booth, organized by the Japan Association for International Education (JAFSA). They explored potential partnerships with existing and new universities, engaging in negotiations to identify further collaboration possibilities, particularly given India's rich higher education landscape that includes over 1,000 universities.

Numerous educational institutions expressed interest in discussing how they could collaborate with Okayama University in international exchanges, research partnerships, and student exchanges. Understanding the needs of Indian universities was a key focus for Inamori and Katoya during these discussions.

The conference also included a reception for Japanese stakeholders and an overall networking event. At one of the receptions hosted by Didier Vanderhasselt, the Belgian Ambassador to India, Okayama University deepened its connections with various higher education representatives from around the world, including special recognition of its partnership with Ghent University in Belgium.

As the trend of EMI (English Medium Instruction) expands globally among universities, Okayama University's Graduate School of Global Human Resource Development is responding actively. The university is enhancing its offerings of English-taught courses as well as summer and spring language and overseas training programs. This approach aligns with its goal to adjust to international educational trends and meet the needs of a diverse student body.

Moving forward, Okayama University is committed to accelerating the internationalization of its educational programs, providing a robust learning environment connected to global partners. The university is eager to further its role as a unique research institution and a core educational center in the region. Stakeholders can look forward to continued advancements and initiatives from Okayama University that bridge Japan's educational innovation with global insights.

In summary, participation in the APAIE 2025 conference not only highlights Okayama University's dedication to international education but also its strategic efforts to strengthen global partnerships and ensure that students benefit from a rich, diverse educational experience. With the support of its faculty and the interest shown by international institutions, Okayama University is poised to play a significant role in shaping the future of education in a global context.
