Chabonavi Achieves a Milestone in Child Welfare
Chabonavi, managed by the non-profit organization Chaibora, has recently reached a significant milestone by registering 304 child care facilities, accounting for over 50% of such institutions across Japan. This achievement marks a crucial step in addressing the critical issue of personnel shortages within child welfare facilities, providing a supportive infrastructure that enables children to grow in a safe environment.
The Challenge of Personnel Shortage in Child Welfare Facilities
In Japan, social welfare facilities such as children's homes provide a refuge for children facing difficult circumstances like abuse or poverty. These facilities include infant care centers, children's homes, psychological treatment facilities, independent support homes, mother-child support facilities, and more. Notably, children's homes make up more than 40% of the total 607 facilities nationwide. Each child requires sufficient care, for which stable staffing is essential. However, many facilities are struggling to recruit staff, primarily due to budget constraints that limit their ability to engage in effective recruitment campaigns.
Chaibora's Solutions to Address Talent Shortages
Chaibora is committed to fostering a world where every child is cherished and nurtured. To tackle the personnel shortages in child welfare facilities, Chaibora provides various services at no charge. Here are the key offerings:
- - Operation of Chabonavi: Serving as a vital link between job seekers and care facilities, Chabonavi addresses the challenges facilities face in sourcing recruitment funds. This service has led to a notable hiring spree, with the total number of hires reaching 370 annually by March 2025 and a significant expansion in registered facilities from 372 to 510 in just one year.
- - Organizing Facility Tours and Educational Outreach: To heighten interest in working at social welfare facilities, Chaibora arranges facility tours and sessions at universities and vocational schools. Experienced staff share their insights about the rewards of working in this sector, making such initiatives unique to Chaibora.
- - Training Programs: Chaibora provides training to prevent withdrawal from job offers and to support newly hired staff, enabling them to thrive in a fulfilling workplace. The online training program, called Chabo Seminar, aims to foster a collaborative and stable working environment.
- - Awareness and Collaboration Initiatives: By connecting sponsors from various sectors and enhancing public understanding of social welfare, Chaibora strives to expand the network of support for these facilities.
With the recent success of registering over 50% of children's homes, Chaibora aims to continue providing meticulous support to facilities nationwide and to enhance awareness of Chabonavi's services.
Voices from Registered Facilities
Representatives from registered facilities have shared their positive experiences:
- - Seiyu Gakuen (First Registered Facility): "We congratulate Chabonavi on surpassing the 50% registration milestone. Seiyu Gakuen was the first to register, and the results have exceeded our expectations, with over 80% of our job seekers coming via Chabonavi. This is just the beginning, and we aim for even greater heights together."
- - 304th Registered Facility: "Though we registered recently, we already found success in hiring through Chabonavi. Our goal is to create a comfortable environment for both children and staff, ensuring they thrive in their roles."
