Experience the Wonder of Science and Technology at the "Spring Flight & Bright Light"
The Global Learner’s Institute (GLI), headquartered in the Minato Ward of Tokyo, is excited to announce an engaging STEAM event tailored for children aged 7 to 12, titled "Spring Flight & Bright Light." Scheduled for May 24, 2025, this event promises a unique opportunity for kids to cultivate their creativity and curiosity through hands-on scientific explorations conducted in English.
Fostering Problem-Solving Skills Through Project-Based Learning
The "Spring Flight & Bright Light" event centers on Science and Technology, featuring various activities that allow participants to engage in project-based learning. At this engaging event, children will not only practice their English skills but also participate in a series of experiments and invent unique creations. This experiential learning approach is designed to enhance their inquiry skills and expressive abilities.
The event aims to create a fully immersive English environment intertwined with STEAM principles, ensuring a holistic learning experience that includes teamwork, trial and error, and presentations.
Enhancing Learning Through Project-Based Approaches
Project-Based Learning (PBL) focuses on real-world challenges, empowering students to take an active role in thinking, researching, and presenting their findings. Research shows that this method has several positive effects, such as:
- - Strengthening Critical Thinking: Tackling open-ended questions boosts children’s ability to organize their thoughts and think critically.
- - Facilitating Knowledge Retention: The active investigation encourages a hands-on learning attitude, leading to better long-term knowledge retention.
- - Increasing Application Skills: Children learn to derive problem-solving methods from the knowledge they have acquired, enhancing their application skills.
- - Cultivating Expressive Abilities: Articulating their thoughts and opinions helps children naturally improve their expressive skills.
- - Developing Information Literacy: Gathering and evaluating information critically aids children in sifting through vast amounts of Data to find valuable and correct information.
Event Activities
Participants will engage in exciting experiments that pique their scientific curiosity:
1.
A Foil Boat Floating on an Invisible Sea: Using aluminum foil and helium balloons, children will create miniature boats that float in the air, offering insights into buoyancy and the properties of gases.
2.
3D Hologram Projector: In this activity, kids will assemble a pyramid-shaped hologram viewer, projecting floating 3D images while learning about light reflection and optical illusions—experiencing the technology of the future!
Throughout the event, all instruction will be delivered in English, promoting a balance of vocabulary, grammar, and presentation skills. Every participant will also receive a "take-home kit" to continue their learning experience at home.
