Get ready for a weekend full of exploration and fun at the 32nd Railway Festival, taking place on October 11th and 12th, 2025, at Odaiba in Tokyo. Organized by the Japan Private Railway Association, in collaboration with the Kanto Railway Association, this year's festival will feature the interactive booth "MinTetsu School" and an array of railway-related merchandise available for purchase. Entrance to the festival is free, allowing everyone to enjoy a wide range of activities and displays.

Objectives of the Event

The primary goal of the Railway Festival is to educate the public, especially children, about the important roles railways play in our lives. Since its inception in 1994, the festival has continually provided fun and relatable ways to learn about railways. Attendees can participate in engaging workshops, view winning photos from the previous year's local railway photo contest, and interact with various installations tailored for all ages. This year sees the participation of 41 railway companies, showcasing their original merchandise for sale.

Highlights of the "MinTetsu School" Booth

Continuing from last year, the festival will showcase the theme "MinTetsu School," designed to create a vibrant and colorful experience by merging elements of trains and classrooms through lively illustrations. Visitors will find display panels featuring:
  • - _A look at the jobs that ensure safety and security in the railway system!_ This section will highlight the essential roles within the railway industry, with real tools used by railway personnel on display.
  • - _Exploring MinTetsu across Japan!_ Featured will be representative vehicle photos and recommended stations from each of the 72 member companies, along with an interactive quiz rally. Participants who answer all questions correctly will receive exclusive novelty gifts.

Engaging Workshops

Join us for unique workshops where attendees can create their own original train using custom fans and crafting kits featuring the festival's official mascots, "Mika-chan" and "Pipimaru." These workshops will be suitable for young children, taking approximately 25 minutes, and participation is managed through a ticket distribution system.

Photo Opportunities

A special photo corner will be set up, allowing guests to snap pictures as if they're driving a train, providing a memorable experience for all ages. Furthermore, the winning entries from the previous year's Local Railway Photo Contest will be displayed on panels, showcasing incredible photography celebrating regional railways.

Merchandising Opportunities

The merchandise booth will host 41 railway companies from various regions, offering diverse and exciting items for railway enthusiasts. From the Tohoku area with companies like Aomori Railway and Sendai Airport Railway to the Kansai region featuring Kintetsu and Hankyu Railways, there's something for everyone.
