Lode Gold Begins Exploration to Unlock Hidden Value in Historical Fremont Gold Mine

Lode Gold Begins Exploration at Fremont Gold Mine

Lode Gold Resources Inc. has announced the initiation of exploration work aimed at evaluating the untapped gold potential of the historic Fremont Gold Mine, which is situated on privately owned land in Mariposa County, California. This 100%-owned property not only boasts a rich history of gold production but is also supported by significant existing infrastructure, including around 23 kilometers of underground workings. The mine, known for its impressive production averages of 10.7 grams per tonne, ceased operations during World War II when gold prices were approximately $35 per ounce.

The Site and Its History

The Fremont Gold Mine consists of seven distinct deposits and four former mining sites, showcasing a wealth of infrastructural readiness for exploration. Currently, about 80% of this expansive site remains unexplored, with the historical exploration primarily confined to a strike length of just over 800 meters. Recognizing the potential for additional resources, Lode Gold is broadening its evaluation to encompass all seven deposits along with nine more exploration targets identified by VRIFY’s geological targeting work. The company also aims to assess the potential of previously producing mines, with the French Mine being the first satellite area under review.

The Fremont property spans an impressive 3,351 acres and has a rich history dating back to the California Gold Rush. Lode Gold’s renewed interest in the site is driven by the desire not only to recover historical resources but also to investigate how much untapped gold may still be hidden beneath the surface.

Research and Development Initiatives

As part of their exploration strategy, fieldwork is currently in progress, including the painstaking recovery and compilation of historical geological and operational records. This process involves archived mine plans, cross-sections, historical production statistics, and previous exploration data. Such efforts will contribute to the formation of a three-dimensional geological model, which will evaluate the geometry and continuity of mineralized structures and help outline their potential contributions to the mine’s future development.

Specific attention is being directed towards the French Mine—a historically productive site from the 1930s with reported gold grades around 10.7 g/t. Its proximity to the primary development zone of Pine Tree–Josephine adds to its appeal as a potentially lucrative satellite opportunity. The data collected from this area, which includes drilling results and a variety of historical samples, will provide insights into the qualities and characteristics necessary for successful mining operations.

Wendy T. Chan, CEO of Lode Gold, highlighted the prospects of these mining areas by emphasizing, "With production halted when gold was approximately $35 per ounce, we wonder how much more gold remains to be discovered at Fremont. We believe there could be significant upside at the previously producing mines on our property that we have yet to fully explore."

Future Steps

The exploration effort is only just beginning, and Lode Gold anticipates sharing further insights within the next 30 to 90 days. Their strategy involves not only recovering historical data but also utilizing modern exploration techniques that can provide fresh insights into the site's geological characteristics.

The combined efforts of integrating the historical production records and geological interpretations will create a robust data foundation from which the company can devise its future mining strategy. Lode Gold is keen to understand how these historically rich veins can effectively complement their current projects, especially focusing on maintaining efficiency and enhancing the quality of gold extraction.

As exploration efforts unfold, the findings could redefine the potential of the Fremont Gold Mine. The ongoing evaluations will help create a comprehensive roadmap for future developments, contributing both to the historical narrative of the area and to Lode Gold’s strategic growth plans.
