Marelli's New Technical R&D Site in Bangalore

Marelli, a significant player in the global automotive technology sector, has recently opened a new technical research and development (R&D) facility in Bangalore, India, on November 5, 2025. This latest expansion is part of Marelli's ongoing strategy to bolster its engineering capabilities, particularly in crucial automotive technology sectors. The new R&D center is set to employ approximately 350 highly skilled professionals and represents an important milestone in the company's innovation journey.

Located within the Embassy Manyata Tech Park, this new facility complements Marelli's existing technical R&D center in Bangalore, which began operations in 2022. With this addition, Marelli's total R&D workforce in India will rise to an impressive 1,200 employees, demonstrating the company's commitment to tapping into the rich pool of engineering talent available in the region.

The newly opened center is equipped with cutting-edge infrastructures, including specialized labs for optics, hardware testing, and automotive validation. These facilities are designed not only to enhance product development capabilities but also to provide essential training and collaborative spaces aimed at fostering innovation and teamwork among employees.

The focus of this R&D site will primarily revolve around key technology areas such as electronics, automotive lighting, and both internal combustion and electric propulsion systems. Marelli aims to leverage its multiple R&D centers to engage in comprehensive development processes for various automotive solutions, including infotainment systems, display technologies, body control modules, engine management systems, headlamps, and rear lamps tailored to the Indian market.

Additionally, the Bangalore R&D team will closely collaborate with Marelli's global engineering peers and clients to co-develop state-of-the-art technologies for Software-Defined Vehicles (SDV), zonal architecture innovations, Automated Manual Transmissions (AMT), as well as sophisticated Engine and Battery Management Systems (BMS). This synergistic approach is expected to drive advancements in advanced lighting features as well.

Marelli India is also placing a strong emphasis on enhancing its internal test infrastructure, aiming to conduct thorough design and process validations in-house. This strategic move will allow Marelli to maintain high standards of reliability and quality in its product offerings. Saju Mookken, the country manager for Marelli India, highlighted that this new R&D center underscores the company's relentless dedication to innovation, customer-centric solutions, and employee growth. He expressed appreciation for the team's hard work in establishing a facility that empowers employees and strengthens the business for the future.

As a testament to its significant presence in the Indian market, Marelli now operates through 15 production sites and 3 R&D centers across six cities. The company recognizes India as a key part of its strategic vision, leveraging partnerships and customer relationships to capitalize on emerging opportunities in the dynamic automotive landscape. Marelli's solutions are uniquely positioned to meet the evolving needs of consumers both locally and globally, reinforcing its stature in the auto technology realm.

The establishment of this new R&D hub not only reaffirms Marelli's commitment to innovation but also enhances its capability to deliver cutting-edge technology solutions that cater to the rapidly changing automotive market.
