Nikkei CNBC Online Enhancements
The leading market and economic media outlet, Nikkei CNBC, has recently upgraded its online streaming service to provide an even better experience for users. Effective from December 29, 2025, viewers can enjoy two significant new features: the
DVR (Digital Video Recorder) function and
low-latency streaming.
What is DVR Functionality?
The new
DVR feature offers viewers more control than ever over their live viewing experience. Key functionalities include:
-
Pause, rewind, and fast forward live programming: Users can now pause ongoing broadcasts and rewind up to 30 minutes to catch any missed details.
-
User-friendly controls: Altering your viewing position is simple with an accessible button on the live stream screen or by manipulating the seek bar.
This flexibility allows for a more personalized viewing experience, catering to the demands of modern audiences who may not always tune in at the start of a live event.
Understanding Low-Latency Streaming
In addition to the DVR functionality, Nikkei CNBC online now offers
low-latency streaming, providing a much quicker response time. With latency as low as
three seconds, viewers can watch live broadcasts with minimal delay. However, note that for
iOS users, the low-latency feature requires iOS 18 or later; users with older systems may experience longer delays.
How to Use the New Features
Both the
DVR and
low-latency streaming features can be accessed directly from the live stream page on Nikkei CNBC online. Subscribers to the
Standard Plan or
Light Plan can enjoy these functionalities, providing more value at no additional cost. For more information, you can visit the live streaming page at:

It’s worth mentioning that the home screen live streaming feature is currently not compatible with DVR and low-latency streaming, but a transition to an enhanced player that supports these features is scheduled for late January 2026.
