The Drifters Exhibit is set to return to Tokyo from June 26 to July 8, 2025, at the Keio Department Store in Shinjuku. This event marks the 60th anniversary of the comedy and music group that has left an indelible mark on Japanese pop culture.
The Drifters, a legendary group that entertained audiences across generations, will showcase their journey from a music band to a beloved comedy group. The exhibit is designed not only to celebrate their past but also to reignite the joy they brought to Japanese households. It will delve into the trio of segments titled
Band Era,
Comedy Era, and
Eternal Era, highlighting the evolution of these five remarkable entertainers.
One of the most anticipated highlights of the exhibit will be the
original bald wig worn by Kato Cha, a legendary piece that has become synonymous with his comedic persona. Attendees will also be able to witness the stunning golden ‘
pe’ statue, meticulously crafted from a mold taken from Kato himself, representing a significant aspect of his iconic gags.
The exhibition will feature various
collaboration items with popular anime series such as
Chibi Maruko-chan,
Urusei Yatsura, and even
One Piece. Fans can expect a treasure trove of exclusive merchandise that reflects the ongoing partnership between The Drifters and these beloved characters, which started since the exhibit began touring nationwide.

Ticket Information:
Entry on the opening day (June 26) will be by timed ticketing for the hours of 10 AM - 11 AM and 11 AM - 12 PM. It is advised to purchase these tickets in advance as they are limited. Regular ticket sales start on May 23 and conclude on June 25. On the day of the event, all tickets will revert to the standard price.
