Hokkaido Rumoi Fair: A Taste of Northern Japan
If you’re looking for a unique culinary experience, the Hokkaido Rumoi Fair is the event for you! Celebrating the rich flavors of the Rumoi region, located in the northwestern part of Hokkaido, this fair will be held at the Coachan Four Wakabadai and Tsukuba stores until January 14, 2026.
The Rumoi Region's Bounty
The Rumoi region is blessed with an abundance of natural resources. Spanning approximately 130 kilometers from north to south and 60 kilometers from east to west, this area interfaces with the Japan Sea and showcases diverse agriculture and fisheries. The local economy thrives on rice and vegetable farming, dairy products, beef, as well as a rich variety of seafood including scallops, octopus, flatfish, salmon, shrimp, and cod.
Fair Highlights
The fair runs from December 12, 2025, to January 14, 2026, every day from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM. Visitors can find an array of local products exhibited prominently at both stores. Notably, representatives from the Rumoi Promotion Bureau will be conducting in-person sales events at the Wakabadai store on December 20th and 21st.

Product Showcase: A wide array of items will be available for purchase, allowing visitors to experience the tastes and specialties of the Rumoi region first-hand.

Tourism Promotion: The fair will also showcase brochures and promotional materials to highlight the tourism appeal of the Rumoi area.

Gifts for Feedback: The first 100 attendees who participate in our feedback survey will receive special gifts as a thank you for helping enhance the fair experience.

The Rumoi region is composed of eight municipalities: Mashike Town, Rumoi City, Kobato Town, Tomamae Town, Haboro Town, Shoyanabe Village, Enbetsu Town, and Teshio Town. Each municipality, facing the majestic Japan Sea, offers breathtaking sunsets and seasonal beauty. Rumoi City is renowned for its salt-cured cod roe, which accounts for 50% of Japan's share. The area is also home to the country’s northernmost sake brewery, the national rare wheat ‘Lulu Rosso,’ and other high-quality products that you wouldn’t want to miss.
