Cohen Veterans Network Expands to Kansas: A New Lifeline for Military Families
In a significant move to enhance mental health support for service members and their families, Cohen Veterans Network (CVN) has announced the opening of its first clinic in Kansas, located conveniently near Fort Riley. This development promises better access to vital mental health services for the state’s military community, which includes over 181,000 post-9/11 veterans and their families.
Scheduled to commence operations in early 2026, The Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at Centerstone will be situated at 1960 Kimball Avenue, Suite 375, Manhattan, KS 66502. The establishment of this clinic is a collaborative effort between CVN and the Robert R. McCormick Foundation, aiming to provide high-quality, accessible mental health care to those who have served.
Dr. Anthony Hassan, President and CEO of CVN, emphasized the organization's commitment to meeting service members at their point of need. He stated, "The launch of our first clinic in Kansas reflects CVN's dedication to meeting military families where they are and ensuring they have access to the high-quality mental health care they deserve." This sentiment highlights the urgent need for support within the military community, where mental health issues are often prevalent.
The Kansas clinic expands CVN's existing partnership with Centerstone, which already operates clinics in multiple states, including Tennessee and Florida. Ben Middleton, Centerstone's Regional Chief Executive Officer, commented on the significance of this clinic, indicating it offers a crucial resource for veterans facing mental health challenges. He noted, "With its closeness to Fort Riley, this clinic will provide a trusted resource for those who have given so much, offering care that strengthens individuals and the entire community."
The McCormick Foundation plays a pivotal role in funding this initiative, reflecting the organization’s ongoing commitment to supporting military families. Timothy P. Knight, President and CEO of the foundation, expressed gratitude for the partnership with CVN and Centerstone, stating, "We are committed to the Fort Riley community and grateful to our partners for helping us deepen our support for the service members, veterans, and families of the 1st Infantry Division."
The clinic addresses various mental health issues, such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, and challenges related to military transitions. Furthermore, it will provide comprehensive case management to aid clients in tackling various social drivers of health, including employment and housing.
Since its establishment in 2016, CVN has helped over 94,000 individuals through more than 855,000 clinical sessions. The Kansas clinic will be the network's 23rd location, expanding services across 21 states. This move is welcomed by those within the veteran community who recognize the need for tailored mental health resources.
In summary, the opening of the Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic in Kansas marks a substantial advancement in the availability of mental health care for military families. It reinforces a commitment to understanding and addressing the unique challenges faced by service members and their loved ones, creating a pathway to healing and support where it is most needed.
