In a touching celebration of beloved children's television host Fred Rogers, the U.S. Postal Service announced a special reissue of the Mister Rogers stamp during the Boston 2026 World Exposition. This announcement, made on May 24, 2026, comes at a significant time, as the organization also commemorates its 250th anniversary. The Mr. Rogers stamp originally released in 2018 won the Stamp Encore contest, an initiative that allowed the public to vote for their favorite stamps from the Postal Service's recent history.

The contest featured 25 iconic stamp panes from the Postal Service’s past. Citizens from all across the nation enthusiastically participated, casting over 500,000 votes for their favorite. The Mister Rogers stamp emerged victorious, surpassing the next closest contender by more than 40,000 votes. This overwhelming response reflects the emotional connection many people have with Rogers's message and his television program, which resonated deeply throughout generations.

As Isaac Cronkhite, the Postal Service's chief processing and distribution officer, noted, the Mister Rogers stamp captured the hearts of many, selling out the initial print run of 12 million within weeks of its first release. This speaks volumes about Rogers’s impact on children's lives and his powerful ability to communicate with them in a soothing and supportive manner.
