Lallemand's Hometown Roots Contest Marks Fifth Year of Supporting Rural Communities

Celebrating Five Years of Community Impact through Agriculture

Lallemand Plant Care is thrilled to announce the fifth anniversary of its Hometown Roots Contest, a program dedicated to celebrating the vital connections between agriculture and rural communities in both Canada and the U.S. This initiative has been instrumental in driving meaningful community engagement, funding local projects, and highlighting the stories that define rural life.

A Journey of Community Engagement

Initiated in 2021, the Hometown Roots Contest was designed to honor the deep-rooted ties of agriculture in rural areas. Over the past five years, the contest has made a significant impact, awarding 29 participants in total and contributing $145,000 to local organizations that focus on education, mentorship, and essential community services. These contributions have empowered various projects, such as youth mentoring programs and adult education initiatives in small towns.

Anne Favre, the Strategic Marketing Director for Lallemand Plant Care, expressed the company's commitment to community roots, stating, "At Lallemand Plant Care, community has always been at the heart of what we do. As we celebrate five years of the Hometown Roots Contest, we're proud of the impact this program has had in supporting rural organizations that strengthen education, mentorship, and essential services in agricultural communities."

Contest Details and Participation

The Hometown Roots Contest invites participants to share their agricultural stories through photographs or short videos. Each entry should reflect the essence of rural life, encapsulating what makes their community unique. Individuals can upload their submissions via Lallemand's Hometown Roots website along with a brief description that elaborates on their entry. Contestants are allowed to submit a single photo or video each week, with a maximum of ten entries throughout the contest period. Importantly, no purchase is needed to participate.

The current contest launched on January 26, 2026, and will run until July 13, 2026. Successful entrants stand a chance to win a $5,000 donation from Lallemand, which can be directed to a local charity or community organization of their choice. This year, prizes are designated for six U.S. states—namely Iowa, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, and South Dakota—each state receiving an individual $5,000 award.

Examples of Beneficiaries

The impact of the Hometown Roots Contest extends far beyond monetary donations; it's about fostering community spirit and creating lasting change. Past beneficiaries include organizations like the Circle Montana Volunteer Fire Department, Detroit Lakes Youth Wrestling, and the Willow City Community Club, showcasing the diverse range of projects that contribute to even the smallest of communities.

Official Contest Rules

To ensure clarity and fairness in the contest, Lallemand has outlined official rules and guidelines, which can be accessed on their website. Exclusions apply to religious and political organizations, aiming to preserve the contest’s focus on community-driven endeavors.
