A Historic Unveiling for Kho Kho World Cup 2025



The Kho Kho Federation of India (KKFI) kickstarted a monumental chapter in the history of Kho Kho by unveiling the magnificent trophies and lively mascots during a grand ceremony held at The Imperial Hotel, Janpath, on January 7, 2025. Scheduled to take place from January 13 to 19, 2025, at the iconic Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in New Delhi, this inaugural World Cup will feature a remarkable gathering of 21 men's teams and 20 women's teams from 24 different nations across six continents.

The unveiled trophies are not just mere accolades; they embody the essence and competitive spirit of Kho Kho. The men’s championship trophy is designed in a striking blue, symbolizing trust, determination, and an international appeal, while the women's trophy shines in vibrant green, representing growth and vitality. Both trophies are distinguished by their contemporary design, showcasing flowing curves and ornate golden figures. The intricate crystal detailing incorporated in both pieces reflects the dedication to precision and excellence that defines the sport at its highest levels.

In addition to the stunning trophies, the KKFI introduced two dynamic mascots: Tejas and Tara. These gazelles are crafted to personify the key attributes of Kho Kho—speed, agility, and teamwork. Clad in bright blue and orange sportswear and adorned with traditional Indian motifs, Tejas stands for brilliance and energy, while Tara represents guidance and aspiration. Together, they meld the rich heritage of Kho Kho with its modern evolution, promising an engaging experience for fans worldwide.

The success of this World Cup is a collaborative effort, with the KKFI establishing partnerships with esteemed organizations to ensure a smooth and successful event. EaseMyTrip has come on board as the execution partner, managing logistics and travel arrangements for all participating teams. In terms of broadcasting, the KKFI has partnered with Star Sports Network and Doordarshan to maximize television coverage, alongside Disney+ Hotstar as the OTT platform for streaming. GMR Sports joins the initiative as a Silver Sponsor, with ticketing handled by District by Zomato. Under the vision of providing a comprehensive and effective framework, Grant Thornton is on board as the strategic sports development partner, while Deloitte contributes expertise in analytics and operational efficiency.

Shri Sudhanshu Mittal, President of the Kho Kho Federation, expressed immense gratitude towards all stakeholders supporting this journey.
