Detroit Amplifiers Solidify Roster with Two Key Additions post-BIG3 Combine

Detroit Amplifiers Finalize Roster for 2025 BIG3 Season

The Detroit Amplifiers, the notable BIG3 franchise from the Motor City, have completed their roster ahead of their inaugural 2025 season. After a strategically executed draft in Las Vegas, the team added two fresh faces who are expected to make significant contributions as they prepare to hit the court.

The Amplifiers selected Ray Nixon, a versatile 6'8" forward with a proven track record, as their first-round pick. Nixon brings a wealth of experience from his successful overseas career, including a championship title. Known for his sharpshooting and adaptability on the court, Nixon expressed his enthusiasm for joining the Amplifiers, stating, "It’s an honor to be part of the Detroit Amplifiers. I've worked hard to stay in this league, and getting to play for a legendary coach like Ice Man is a dream come true."

In the second round, the team added Shakur Juiston, a 6'7" forward acclaimed for his energy and relentless defensive play. Juiston is eager to contribute to the team’s success and emphasized his commitment to winning, showing his readiness to compete for a championship in this newly formed franchise.

Head Coach George Gervin commented on the significance of these new additions, remarking, "These two guys complete the puzzle." With Nixon and Juiston now joining the core team, expectations are set high for a strong performance in the upcoming season.

The finalized roster also includes several seasoned players, each bringing unique skills to the Amplifiers' lineup:

  • - Jeremy Pargo (Captain): This dynamic guard has an elite scoring ability and boasts a history in the NBA with teams like the Cavaliers and 76ers. Pargo's experience from playing in Israel and Russia, combined with his leadership on the court, positions him as a crucial player for the team.
  • - Darnell Jackson (Co-Captain): Renowned for his physical gameplay and rebounding capability, Jackson is a former NCAA champion with Kansas who has also enjoyed a significant career overseas. His strong presence in the paint will be vital for the Amplifiers’ strategy.
  • - Joe Johnson (Co-Captain): A seven-time NBA All-Star and three-time MVP in BIG3, Johnson adds unmatched experience and composure to the team. His scoring ability and leadership will be invaluable as the franchise navigates its debut season.

With the roster now set, the Amplifiers plan to kick off their training camp from June 9-12 in Detroit, where the team will refine their strategies and build chemistry. Fans can look forward to witnessing their new team live when the BIG3 makes its way to the Little Caesars Arena on July 20th.
