Accompanying him will be Hiroaki Minami, the current editor-in-chief at Courier Japan, who has also contributed to Indian series and features in the publication.

Why Focus on India's Entertainment Industry?

By 2027, India's entertainment and media market is expected to exceed 5 trillion yen. Dubbed the largest frontier in Asia and an IT powerhouse, the media sector is currently thriving. According to EY India, this market is projected to grow by an average of 7% annually over the next three years, potentially reaching a size of 5.2 trillion yen by 2027. The popularity of Japanese content is surging, particularly among younger audiences eager to engage with anime. Crunchyroll, a leading distributor of anime, regards India as the 'second-largest market after the United States.' Moreover, there is an increasing call for collaboration between Japanese enterprises across various sectors, representing a substantial opportunity for businesses.

The Indian government is actively supporting the development of the media and entertainment industry. At the recent WAVES 2025, an international content event organized by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, contracts and investments totaling 165 billion yen were completed over a four-day period, highlighting the government's commitment to this burgeoning industry. The international acclaim of Indian cinema, commonly referred to as Bollywood, continues to grow, with the historical action film 'RRR' grossing over 24.3 billion yen globally upon its release in 2022, demonstrating the potential of VFX and animation production technologies.
