Sugar Bowl Resort's Exciting Enhancements Set for 2025/26 Season Launch

Sugar Bowl Resort's Major Upgrades for the 2025/26 Season

As winter approaches, Sugar Bowl Resort, an independent alpine destination located atop Donner Summit, is thrilled to announce significant enhancements for the 2025/26 season. These developments come as part of a remarkable $100 million revitalization project that marks a pivotal moment in the resort's storied 86-year history.

Bridget Legnavsky, the CEO of Sugar Bowl Resort, expressed excitement about these upgrades, stating, "This next phase of our revitalization project reflects everything we love about Sugar Bowl and its authentic mountain culture, diverse skiing, and community spirit." The resort aims not only to attract new visitors but also to enhance the overall experience for returning guests and employees while respecting the historical character that defines this site.

Revitalized Village Lodge

This winter, guests can expect an exciting reimagining of the Village Lodge's dining and après-ski offerings. Leading the culinary charge is renowned Bay Area chef and Sugar Bowl Culinary Advisor, Traci Des Jardins, alongside Head Sommelier, Clay Reynolds. Here’s what’s new:

  • - Yarrow: The newest dining spot at Tahoe, featuring an all-day menu that celebrates California's culinary diversity through seasonal, locally sourced ingredients. Signature dishes include Lamb Meatballs with labneh and mint chimichurri, Togarashi Fried Brussels Sprouts, and Duck Fat Potato Rosti.

  • - The Terrace: This lively new outdoor space is perfect for unwinding after skiing, equipped with fire pits and convenient QR ordering to enjoy Yarrow favorites and classic comfort dishes.

  • - The Belt Room: An energized après-ski venue showcasing craft cocktails and casual handheld eats, ideal for relaxation after a day on the slopes.

  • - Espresso Lounge: A cozy nook for freshly-roasted coffee and homemade baked goods, perfect for fueling up or taking a peaceful break amid the beautiful mountain setting.

The revamped lodge aims to promote sustainability, having achieved zero landfill status this season—an effort that aligns with Sugar Bowl's ongoing environmental goals. The rest of the resort is expected to follow suit by the end of the 2026/27 season.

In addition to dining improvements, guests will find a state-of-the-art seasonal locker facility offering enhanced digital access, boot dryers, and more storage options. The beloved Rathskeller has also been transformed into a welcoming communal area for guests to work or relax.

On-Mountain and Main Lodge Upgrades

This season, Sugar Bowl is excited to announce an expansion of its ski terrain following the removal of outdated buildings. This effort not only increases skiable acreage but also improves sightlines for better enjoyment of the breathtaking views. Furthermore, a new fleet of groomers will enhance the quality and consistency of snow across Sugar Bowl’s diverse four peaks.

The resort also focuses on its athlete training facility—Sugar Bowl Parks CA—which is set to expand with improved rail, jump lines, and features that cater to all levels of skiing progression.

To streamline services, all skier services will now be consolidated into the Main Lodge, enhancing convenience for guests seeking equipment rentals or enrolling in the Snowsports School. Added to this is a new space for employees called the Employee Palace, designed to promote community and enhance the working experience.
