This year marks the fifth anniversary of the highly anticipated Sumida Park Cinema Festival 2025, a unique event that connects movies, the community, and its people. From October 11 to October 13, a huge screen will be set up in Sumida Park, offering attendees an exceptional assortment of entertainment and activities that are sure to delight everyone.

The festival, which has grown significantly since its inception, is not just about film screenings; it’s a three-day celebration that also includes vibrant markets, educational workshops, and lively music performances. The overarching theme, "A Film Festival Walking with the Community," encapsulates the event's essence, making it a beloved gathering in the heart of Tokyo.

This year, the festival will showcase an eclectic mix of films suitable for all ages. Family favorites such as The Iron Giant and My Sunflower will light up the screen, alongside heartwarming stories like Yesterday. The lineup also features the Japan-France co-production, SUPER HAPPY FOREVER, the global hit Barbie, and In This Corner of the World, celebrating 80 years since Japan’s wartime surrender.

An integral part of the festival will be the curated market featuring approximately 70 booths, showcasing unique local artisans and products. Attendees can immerse themselves in various performances and engage with local creatives, reflecting the rich culture of the Sumida area. This year’s festival has expanded from its traditional two-day format to a three-day extravaganza, allowing even more opportunities for community engagement.
