Boviet Solar Unveils First Manufacturing Plant in the United States
In a momentous occasion, Boviet Solar Technology Co. Ltd. has officially opened its very first manufacturing facility in the U.S. Located in Greenville, North Carolina, this move marks a key expansion for the company, which specializes in solar energy technology.
The new facility represents a $294 million investment and is equipped with cutting-edge PERC and N-Type solar cell technology. It will produce high-performance Gamma Series™ Monofacial and Vega Series™ Bifacial PV modules that cater to a variety of sectors, including residential, commercial, industrial, and utility-scale applications. This state-of-the-art plant is expected to have an annual output capacity of 2 gigawatts (GW) following the completion of its first phase, with plans for a second phase that will further enhance production capabilities.
The grand opening ceremony saw a gathering of significant figures from local government and the solar industry, including North Carolina Governor Josh Stein and several other prominent officials. Attendees enjoyed a networking breakfast and various activities including facility tours and a ceremonial ribbon cutting. The event was not just a celebration of Boviet Solar’s expansion but also a testament to its commitment to enhancing the clean energy landscape in the United States.
Governor Stein remarked on the impact of Boviet Solar's presence in the area, highlighting how it aligns with North Carolina's clean energy goals. He noted the state's position as a leader in clean energy jobs, emphasizing that this factory will bolster local employment and economic opportunity. The first phase of the project will create approximately 460 direct jobs, with an additional 908 positions expected to follow in the second phase. In total, the facility is anticipated to support over 3,200 jobs when fully operational, including indirect positions that will extend the benefits to the broader local economy.
The expansion has been commended not only for its economic benefits but also for its role in strengthening the supply chain for clean energy. Boviet Solar has consistently sought to establish deep roots within the U.S. market, enhancing domestic production capabilities in the face of growing energy demands. Marco Marques, General Manager of Boviet Solar USA Manufacturing Operation, stated that the new facility allows the company to produce high-quality PV modules right on American soil, which is a significant step toward increased energy independence and economic growth in the region.
Boviet Solar’s history and track record in the solar industry have laid a strong foundation for its operations. Founded in 2013 in Vietnam, the company has gained international recognition and has earned a Tier 1 rating from Bloomberg New Energy Finance (BNEF). Over the years, Boviet Solar has built a reputation for manufacturing excellence, being listed among the top 10 global bankable PV module manufacturers by Wood Mackenzie. The company’s modules have also consistently performed well on reliability scorecards, reinforcing their quality and performance.
The establishment of this new plant is a pivotal step in Boviet Solar's strategy to not just penetrate the U.S. market, but to lead in fostering sustainable energy solutions. As the company moves forward, there is a shared vision of contributing positively to the environment while driving economic growth in North Carolina and beyond.
As Boviet Solar’s facility in Greenville embarks on its journey, it symbolizes hope not just for the clean energy sector but for the job market and the economy as a whole.
