NYC Swimmer Fleur Sohtz Achieves the Triple Crown
Fleur Sohtz, a dedicated open-water swimmer from New York City, has made history by conquering the English Channel, thus earning her the coveted Triple Crown of Open Water Swimming. Completing the English Channel swim in an impressive time of 12 hours and 51 minutes, she not only triumphed over the chilling waters and challenging currents but also became the first woman from NYC to achieve this distinction.
The Triple Crown includes three monumental swims: the Manhattan Island Marathon Swim (also known as the 20 Bridges), the Catalina Channel, and the English Channel. Fleur successfully completed the Manhattan Island swim in 2021 and the Catalina Channel in 2023, marking her ascent in the realm of open-water swimming.
Reflecting on her challenging journey, Fleur stated, “Swimming the English Channel was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done, both physically and mentally. Acupuncture and dry needling were vital parts of my preparation and recovery. They kept me healthy throughout the extensive training and helped me bounce back after tough workouts.”
