Global Consortium to Build Advanced AI Factory in Morocco with 500 MW Renewable Energy

A Revolutionary AI Factory in Morocco

In a groundbreaking announcement, a global investment consortium spearheaded by Nexus Core Systems has revealed plans to establish a state-of-the-art AI factory in Morocco. This ambitious project, backed by prominent names such as Lloyds Capital, NAVER Cloud, and Maroc Telecom, aims to revolutionize the AI landscape of Morocco and position the country as a leader in AI and robotics within the region.

Geographical Advantage

Morocco’s strategic location, just 15 kilometers from Europe, further enhances its appeal. The country is uniquely positioned to deliver sovereign compute capacity to the European market, thanks to multiple subsea fiber corridors connecting it directly to Europe. This geographic advantage not only enables quicker access to markets but also ensures the infrastructure for a robust AI ecosystem.

The Power Behind Innovation

The project is set to launch in concert with advanced technology that includes accelerated computing, modern networking, and AI-native infrastructure. In the first phase, which is expected to commence in Q1 2026, over 40 MW of next-generation AI accelerators will be deployed, designed specifically for large-scale model training. Once operational, this AI factory will be one of the largest enterprise AI supercomputers in the region.

This advanced infrastructure will be powered by an impressive 500 MW of renewable energy under a strategic agreement with TAQA Morocco. This commitment to sustainable operations showcases a forward-thinking approach to technology and energy usage in a time when the global need for renewable energy solutions is paramount.

Empowering Organizations and Governments

NAVER Cloud, in collaboration with Nexus Core Systems and Lloyds Capital, will implement the AI computing platform, offering secure and sovereign AI compute access for both government and enterprise clients. The modular infrastructure technology means that the data centers can be rapidly deployed, easily scaled, and maintained efficiently with minimal construction risks on-site.

National Impact and Digital Transformation

Maroc Telecom will lead the commercial distribution efforts across enterprise and government channels in Morocco, acting as a vital partner in the region's AI adoption and digital transformation initiatives. Their collaboration with Nexus and NAVER will leverage white-labeled platforms powered by cutting-edge infrastructure and AI technology, greatly benefiting national initiatives and promoting the digital economy.

As Chae Seon Ju, President of Strategic Business at NAVER, stated, this collaboration marks a significant milestone for NAVER's cloud and AI technologies as they expand into the European market, aiming to cement technological leadership in the rapidly evolving AI domain.

Looking Ahead

The full range of services offered by this AI factory encompasses various aspects of AI-enablement, covering foundation model training, multimodal inference, robotics, autonomous learning, and high-performance data processing. By merging Nexus's robust infrastructure with NAVER's AI capabilities, this project is poised to lead to innovations that enhance performance, streamline operations, and unlock transformative use cases for enterprises across the region.

This forward-thinking initiative is not only expected to attract significant investments but also generate valuable spillover effects, including workforce upskilling and new collaborative opportunities. As Christopher Yoshida, CEO of Nexus Core Systems, put it, investing in such cutting-edge infrastructure is a crucial step in fostering the development and adoption of AI technologies across the EMEA region.

The potential success of this project could firmly place Morocco on the global map for sovereign AI, showcasing its capacity for innovation and modern technology adoption in the Middle East and beyond.
