Abu Dhabi Royal Equestrian Arts: A New Era in Classical Horsemanship Begins

A New Frontier in Equestrian Arts

On October 31, 2025, a significant milestone was marked in the cultural landscape of Abu Dhabi and the UAE with the official opening of Abu Dhabi Royal Equestrian Arts (ADREA). As the world's fifth institution dedicated to classical horsemanship and the first established outside Europe, ADREA sets the stage for an intriguing journey into the world of equestrian traditions on the picturesque Jubail Island. Nestled amidst tranquil mangroves and just a stone's throw from the bustling city center, this facility invites visitors to experience the art of classical riding like never before.

A Grand Opening Featuring Equestrian Excellence

The grand inauguration on October 30 was attended by distinguished guests, dignitaries, and members of the equestrian community, who were treated to an awe-inspiring demonstration that honored the timeless artistry of horsemanship. This opening symbolizes a cultural renaissance for Abu Dhabi, establishing it as a world-class destination where the relationship between horse and rider is celebrated. Visitors can now partake in weekly live performances that weave together equestrian artistry with music and choreography, highlighting the roots of Furusiyya—an ancient equestrian tradition embodying skill, discipline, and harmony.

In a historic convergence, all five classical riding schools from Austria, Spain, Portugal, France, and now the UAE, gathered under the roof of ADREA. This exceptional event showcased centuries of mastery, craftsmanship, and cultural heritage. The celebrated Spanish Riding School demonstrated the grace of its Lipizzaner stallions through the captivating ballet of white horses, while the Royal Andalusian School infused passion and rhythm with its Andalusian dancing horses. The Portuguese School of Equestrian Art brought precision and elegance to the performance with the Lusitano breed, and the Cadre Noir de Saumur displayed its distinct style of haute école horsemanship. Completing this extraordinary program was ADREA's own ensemble of riders and horses, marking the establishment of the first permanent center for classical equestrian artistry in the UAE, bridging Emirati heritage with timeless European traditions.

A Haven for Equestrian Lovers

Spanning an impressive 18,000 square meters within a lush 65,000-square-meter habitat, ADREA offers not only exceptional equestrian demonstrations but also immersive cultural experiences. The facility is home to over 40 of the world's finest purebred Spanish white stallions, preserving the knowledge of equestrian arts through the largest library in the region. This library features thousands of rare texts and a collection of globally significant artifacts.

Visitors can explore the UAE's inaugural saddle manufactory, where the historical craftsmanship of saddlery is revived through a blend of skill and cultural heritage. Notably, the Furusiyya Gallery showcases 173 rare artifacts spanning over two millennia, tracing the artistic evolution of horseback riding through various civilizations.

ADREA is inviting guests to immerse themselves in a realm where cultural heritage and performance art entwine, manifested through equestrian exhibitions, educational programs, and installations that celebrate the horse as a timeless symbol of grace, culture, and pride. Guided by principles prioritizing the welfare of horses and the enduring values of Furusiyya, the opening of this school expands the rich equestrian legacy of the Arab world while reflecting the deeply rooted connection of the UAE to its heritage. Consequently, Abu Dhabi is poised to emerge as a global epicenter for culture, art, and excellence in equestrian endeavors.
