Dolores Huerta at the 23rd Annual Latinas in Leadership™ Symposium

The iconic civil rights leader Dolores Huerta is set to be the highlight of the 23rd Annual Latinas in Leadership™ Symposium on May 28, 2026, in Hartford, Connecticut. The event promises an exciting day filled with inspiration, workshops, and networking opportunities for over 700 Latina leaders, advocates, and entrepreneurs.

The symposium, organized by Latinas in Leadership™ (formerly Latinas Power Corp.), will take place at the Connecticut Convention Center from 7:30 AM to 3:00 PM, followed by a networking reception. The theme for this year's symposium is "Dare... Because Representation Matters," emphasizing the importance of Latina representation in leadership roles across various sectors. Marilyn Alverio, the founder and CEO of Latinas in Leadership™, stated, "For over two decades, this community has transformed from a mere statement about power into a concrete leadership channel that impacts every sector. This new chapter focuses on the fact that Latinas are not preparing to lead; we are actively leading."

The event aims to create a dynamic platform where Latina leaders can not only become visible but also influence industries, politics, and community decision-making. Designed to empower, the symposium includes various workshops such as "Dare to Collaborate: Turning Presence into Power," "Who Cares About Caregiving? The Latina Caregiving Experience," and "Building a Strong Financial Future: Wealth Building Fundamentals." There's also a track dedicated to high school students, bringing together 100 students from 12 schools across Connecticut.

Among the notable speakers scheduled for the day are Connecticut Secretary of State Stephanie Thomas and esteemed individuals from multimedia, education, health, and finance sectors. They will share their insights on the importance of Latina voices in shaping policy and making a meaningful impact in their communities.

A special highlight will be a fireside chat featuring Dolores Huerta and Alverio, moderated by Arantxa Loizaga from Noticias Telemundo. This conversation aims to inspire and teach attendees how ordinary individuals can become leaders and advocates for significant change in their communities. Huerta will discuss how grassroots efforts can lead to larger movements, emphasizing representation and community progress.

Additionally, the symposium will showcase the latest graduates from the Latinas in Leadership Institute (LiLI), a six-month leadership development program designed for Latinas from all backgrounds and industries. This program empowers participants to address social justice issues affecting the Latino community through research-based projects.

Notably, the event serves as a fundraising opportunity, with proceeds going directly to the upcoming 7th Cohort of LiLI launching in September. The symposium also features a marketplace showcasing over 40 small businesses and community organizations, allowing attendees to directly support local enterprises while engaging with their products and services.

Although tickets for the event have sold out, there will be options for live streaming the symposium. For those interested in learning more about accessing the online content, details can be found at the official site: Latinas in Leadership.
