Datamaran Appoints Bert Sinnema as New Chief Technology Officer: Driving AI Innovation

In a significant move to bolster its technological capabilities, Datamaran, a leading provider of AI-powered risk and governance software, has announced the appointment of Bert Sinnema as its new Chief Technology Officer (CTO). With his base in Leeuwarden, Netherlands, Sinnema will oversee the company’s global development and product teams, including the development center in Valencia, Spain, as he drives the technological and product vision for Datamaran's platform.

Sinnema takes on this pivotal role at a crucial juncture for Datamaran, as the company expands its utilization of AI across its platform. This initiative aims to provide clients with quicker, more actionable insights into risks, regulatory requirements, and stakeholder expectations. His responsibilities will encompass not only setting the strategic direction and architecture of products but also guiding the teams responsible for development.

With over 12 years of leadership experience in product development, Sinnema has a proven track record in startups and industry-leading platforms. Prior to joining Datamaran, he served as VP of Engineering at Eye Security, Europe's fastest-growing cybersecurity firm. Here, he successfully built the product and development organization from the ground up, tripling the size of the international team and helping the company secure a Series C funding round of €60 million.

Before his tenure at Eye Security, Sinnema was the Director of Engineering at HackerOne, the leading platform for ethical hacking and bug bounty programs, where he also advanced significantly in his role. He began his career as the CTO of SmartLockr, a secure communication and privacy platform that he bootstrapped and expanded to three countries, eventually leading it through Microsoft's Ventures Accelerator program in Berlin.

Marjella Lecourt-Alma, CEO and co-founder of Datamaran, emphasized the importance of Sinnema’s appointment during an era of transition for the company. "Bert has spent his career building and scaling development organizations under some of the toughest conditions, including as a founder. He knows what it takes to turn belief into action and adapt continuously to market changes. As Datamaran evolves from ESG topic management to an AI-driven governance platform, his founder mentality, along with his experience in building technology and company culture, makes him the ideal leader for our next phase," she stated.

Sinnema himself expressed enthusiasm about his new role, stating, "I enjoy working at the intersection of leading product development teams and AI, where the toughest challenges are faced, and the most impactful decisions are made. Datamaran uses AI to help companies navigate a genuinely complex risk landscape, and I look forward to applying my experience in building and scaling development and product organizations towards this mission. It’s an incredibly exciting time to build in tech, and I am eager to be part of the action with the team."

As Datamaran continues enhancing its platform to manage the increasingly complex and rapidly changing risk landscape, Sinnema’s expertise will be vital in steering the technology and product organization toward innovative, AI-driven solutions. The journey ahead for Datamaran promises to be transformative as it strides into a new era of governance and risk management powered by advanced technology.
