Loftin Equipment Partners with UTI to Enhance Workforce Development and Student Opportunities

Loftin Equipment Partners with Universal Technical Institute

In a significant move towards enhancing workforce development, Loftin Equipment Company has announced a partnership with the Universal Technical Institute (UTI), aimed at providing students with valuable hands-on experience while they pursue their education. This collaboration, effective immediately, allows selected students at UTI's campuses in Texas and Arizona the opportunity to gain meaningful work experience in the energy sector, specifically within Loftin's operations.

Established in 1976 and headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona, Loftin Equipment Company is known for its leadership in power generation solutions across the Southwestern United States. Through the Early Employment Program (EEP) offered by UTI, Loftin plans to bridge the gap between education and real-world application by enabling students to work 20 to 30 hours a week in a paid capacity.

Benefits for Students and Employers

Under this program, students enrolled in UTI's Diesel Technology and Industrial Maintenance programs stand to benefit significantly. They can apply for positions with Loftin while still attending classes. Not only will this give them direct exposure to the industry, but it will also set them on a pathway toward full-time employment upon graduation.

Julie Bailey, the People Manager at Loftin Equipment, emphasized the importance of skilled technicians in their workforce, stating, “Generator Technicians are the backbone of our business. Their expertise and dedication uphold our reputation and fuel our success.” Loftin's commitment includes nurturing long-term career development for technicians through competitive compensation packages and a strong culture of safety and respect.

Participants in the EEP can expect to receive educational reimbursements after graduation, along with a robust benefits package that offers considerable support for both their immediate and future career paths. Eligible candidates will receive tuition reimbursement of up to $25,000, alongside a tool assistance program valued at $3,000. This financial support is designed to alleviate the burden of educational expenses while preparing students for successful careers in power generation.

A Direct Path into the Industry

UTI Division President Tracy Lorenz highlighted the unique opportunity this partnership provides: “Through our collaboration with Loftin Equipment, students are not just training for a job; they are getting essential real-world experience in a thriving industry from day one.” Graduates from UTI's multiple campuses, including Houston, Dallas, Austin, and Avondale, now have a direct pathway into prospective employment with Loftin, providing both immediate job readiness and longer-term career growth.

Students will be engaged in performing maintenance, diagnostics, and commissioning of generator systems. This practical experience, paired with their academic knowledge, gives them a competitive edge in the job market.

The Road Ahead

As UTI continues to expand its Early Employment Program, the collaboration with Loftin Equipment Company sets a precedent for future partnerships. It underscores a collective commitment to workforce development, job readiness, and education in technical fields.

Interested students are encouraged to learn more about this partnership and the Early Employment Program through UTI's official channels. With over 140 employers currently involved in this initiative, the possibilities for students are significantly broadened, leading to exciting career opportunities in critical industries.
