MacGregor Secures Notable Contract for 400-Tonne Subsea Crane for Floating Wind Farm Vessel

MacGregor has recently clinched a significant order to supply a 400-tonne Active Heave Compensated (AHC) subsea crane, tailored for a groundbreaking Floating Wind Farm Construction Vessel (FWCV) measuring 127 meters. This vessel is designed explicitly for the rapidly expanding floating offshore wind sector and represents a considerable advancement in offshore wind technology. The order is part of MacGregor's first-quarter intake for 2026 and showcases the company's capacity to deliver large-scale, sophisticated machinery.

The contract is set to be executed in collaboration with Jiangsu Dajin Heavy Industry Co., Ltd., a renowned Chinese shipyard, while the operations of the vessel will fall under the management of Hana Shipping Co., Ltd. The AHC crane will play an essential role in various activities crucial to floating wind farm projects, such as mooring operations and cable laying. The first assignment for the FWCV is slated to take place at the Ulsan Floating Wind Farm Construction site, positioned 70 kilometers off the coast of Ulsan, South Korea.

The crane is scheduled for delivery by the end of 2027, with the FWCV to follow in the second quarter of 2028.
