SICF27: Celebrating Young Creators at the Spirals Art Festival in May 2026

SICF27: An Arts Festival Celebrating Young Talent

In the vibrant district of Minami Aoyama, Tokyo, SICF27, also known as the 27th Spiral Independent Creators Festival, is set to unfold from May 1 to May 6, 2026. Hosted at Spiral, a well-known arts complex, this festival is a beacon of inspiration for young creators, showcasing their innovative work across various art forms.

Organized by The Chain Museum, the event aims to discover, nurture, and support young artists, featuring a diverse selection of over 440 applicants. Out of this number, 170 handpicked talents will exhibit their creativity in two distinct sections: the EXHIBITION and the MARKET.

The Essence of SICF

SICF has been a prominent fixture in the art community since its inception in 2000, attracting enormous crowds—over 10,000 attendees last year alone. The festival operates without age or genre restrictions, allowing a dynamic range of creators to express their perspectives freely.

EXHIBITION Section

The EXHIBITION section showcases unconventional works including installations, paintings, and photographs, presented in two parts:
  • - Part A: May 1-3
  • - Part B: May 4-6
This year's highlights include an exciting group of artists such as Yurika Arai, Moeka Ishii, and Yuan Chen, bringing fresh approaches to contemporary art.

MARKET Section

The MARKET section runs concurrently, offering an exciting array of handcrafted items from 70 creators, including fashion, accessories, and crafts, ensuring a vibrant atmosphere where visitors can purchase unique pieces directly from the makers.
  • - Part A: May 1-3
  • - Part B: May 4-6

Artists in this section include Asuka Shimada and the Atelier Qiuto, injecting creativity into everyday life. This setup is a rare opportunity for collectors and art enthusiasts alike to engage intimately with the creators.

Awards and Recognition

At the conclusion of the event, awards such as the Audience Award and Grand Prize will be awarded to outstanding participants, further supporting the careers of promising new artists. Each vote from visitors contributes to this key element of recognition.
