First Union Forum (j.union × TUNAG for UNION) Set for December 16th

Inaugural Union Forum: Shaping the Future of Labor Unions

On December 16, 2025, the j.union and TUNAG for UNION will host their first Union Forum in Tokyo. This initiative aims to strengthen the value offered within the labor union domain, an area experiencing significant transformation due to evolving societal, economic, and organizational landscapes.

Context and Purpose of the Forum

Labor unions are at a significant crossroads today. While traditional efforts around wage increases and improved working conditions are gaining momentum, new expectations for diverse and sustainable work styles are emerging. The forum seeks to explore these shifts, highlighting the need for unions to adapt to a rapidly changing work environment. The discussion will focus on four key themes: Dialogue, Diversity, Union Member First Approach, and Labor Law Systems. These themes will serve as pillars for understanding how unions can rise to the challenge of modern worker expectations and collectively redefine their roles.

This first forum will welcome leaders from labor unions, seasoned experts, and notable media figures who will engage in dialogue about the future of labor unions. Participants will collectively explore ways to transform labor organizations, ensuring they remain relevant not only to their members but also to broader societal needs.
