Bridging the Gap: AWS and CodeSignal Empower Students for Tech Careers
In a significant collaboration announced on April 10, 2025,
Amazon Web Services (AWS) Skills to Jobs Tech Alliance partnered with
CodeSignal to prepare over
20,000 students across the Americas and Asia-Pacific for careers in technology. This initiative aims to address the urgent need for skilled tech professionals by providing hands-on, practical training in coding and job readiness.
The Skills to Jobs Developer Challenges
The initiative features an event series titled "Skills to Jobs Developer Challenges," which will take place in four countries: the United States, Colombia, Brazil, and Malaysia. The first event is set to occur on April 17, 2025, in Washington, D.C., with other events scheduled throughout the spring and summer.
What’s impressive about this collaboration is the diverse array of educational institutions involved. The pilot includes significant players like
Houston Community College and
CUNY in the U.S.,
SENA and
Campuslands in Colombia,
Anima in Brazil, and
Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation in Malaysia — all recognized for their innovative approaches to education. The events will offer students various resources for enhancing their skills and preparing for the job market.
Empowering the Next Generation of Tech Talent
The demand for skilled professionals in the tech industry is unprecedented, and AWS alongside CodeSignal is committed to filling this demand. They will offer students comprehensive coding assessments, interview preparation, and real-world technical scenarios through engaging learning modalities. This initiative goes beyond traditional education by integrating practical experiences that foster a smoother transition from academia to high-impact technical roles.
Tigran Sloyan, CEO of CodeSignal, emphasizes the importance of hands-on learning, stating, "At CodeSignal, we believe that hands-on learning and high-quality assessments are key to launching successful tech careers. Working alongside AWS, we aim to empower learners across multiple regions..." His sentiment resonates with the overall aim of the initiative to not only provide theoretical knowledge but also practical skills that meet employer expectations.
Valerie Singer, General Manager for AWS Global Education, stated, "AWS is committed to creating opportunities... By collaborating with CodeSignal...we are ensuring that students not only gain theoretical knowledge but also develop the practical skills required to succeed in technical and cloud careers."
Looking Ahead: Global Workforce Development
This partnership is part of a broader vision to establish a prepared and skilled workforce ready to tackle the challenges posed by drastic technological advancements. By executing the Skills to Jobs Developer Challenges in multiple regions, AWS and CodeSignal intend to not only equip participants with necessary skills but also bridge the persistent skills gap existing in the tech industry.
This initiative lays the groundwork for a new generation of tech professionals, highlighting how organizations can collaboratively contribute to workforce readiness. With plans to expand into additional regions by Fall 2025, AWS and CodeSignal are setting a transformative standard for educational programs focused on emerging technologies.
