Trade Expo Indonesia 2026 Aims to Boost Exports Through Global Connectivity

Trade Expo Indonesia 2026: Shaping the Future of Indonesian Exports

The Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) 2026, organized by Debindo (PT Debindomulti Adhiswasti), stands as the largest international trade exhibition in Indonesia. Taking place from October 14 to 18, 2026, at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) in BSD City, Tangerang, this monumental event is set against the banner of "The Ultimate Hub for Global Sourcing."

At the opening ceremony, led by coordinating minister for Downstreaming and Energy Transition, Bahlil Lahadalia, the event was inaugurated to spotlight the importance of downstreaming and industrialization as keys to enhancing export quality and economic resilience. "Downstream processing is essential to boost the added value of Indonesia's natural resources and strengthen national economic independence," stated Lahadalia.

By the opening day, Trade Minister Budi Santoso announced that TEI 2026 had attracted buyers from 134 countries and included 1,873 exhibitors, aiming for 30,000 visitors and a potential transaction value of $17.5 billion. The first day alone is expected to see 168 memoranda of understanding (MoUs) signed between Indonesian exporters and buyers from 22 countries.

The TEI serves as a crucial platform to connect Indonesian companies with global buyers and showcases a diverse range of products including food and beverage, agricultural and industrial goods, fashion and handicrafts, furniture and home accessories, as well as inviting investors in industrial sectors. It addresses key priorities set by the Ministry; securing the domestic market, broadening export markets, and transitioning from local to global by bolstering local products and encouraging more businesses to venture into exports.

In line with the President’s directives, the Trade Ministry continues to engage in trade negotiations with various countries and regions to unlock export markets. Currently, 25 trade agreements have been implemented, with an additional 13 under negotiation. The ministry also supports the exports of micro, small, and medium enterprises through business matchmaking facilitated by 46 Indonesian trade representatives across 33 countries. The Desa BISA Ekspor initiative develops village products for export, while partnerships with domestic retailers boost local sales.

An encouraging effort dubbed Campuspreneur collaborates with 25 universities to inspire students to launch businesses and pursue exports. Zulkifli Hasan, the Coordinating Minister for Food, emphasized the potential found in unconventional markets, particularly in South Asia, including Bangladesh, Pakistan, and India, as well as Africa.

During the opening ceremony, the ministry awarded the Primaniyarta Award to outstanding exporters and regional leaders, along with the Primaduta Award for international partners, diaspora members, and Indonesian representatives abroad. The Campuspreneur Award recognized students who conducted the highest number of transactions during TEI 2026.

TEI 2026 is supported by Pertamina as the strategic partner, Bank Mandiri as the banking partner, and BPDP as the event partner, alongside Kadin Indonesia and LPEI. The event is organized by Debindo to enhance the visibility and capabilities of Indonesian products on a global stage.

As Indonesia strives to forge stronger global partnerships through these dynamic trade fairs, TEI 2026 marks a significant stride towards improved export performance and demonstrates the country's growing confidence in international trade.
