Exciting Return of eSports GOMI in Okayama
The innovative event
eSports GOMI in Okayama is set to make its comeback, aimed at boosting regional revitalization efforts. Organized by
Hitomee Inc. and supported by the
eSports GOMI Organizing Committee, this exciting fusion of eSports and litter collection is designed to engage the community in environmental initiatives.
Since its inaugural event in May 2026,
eSports GOMI in Okayama was met with overwhelming enthusiasm, leading to calls for a repeat from local businesses and communities. The event is set to take place at
MOMOTARO STARTUP CAFE in Okayama City on
August 8, 2026, where teams of three will compete to gather the most litter while also participating in a gaming tournament during the event.
This year’s event will feature teams of three competing to collect litter within designated areas, rewarding points based on both the amount and type of waste collected. It’s a unique way to incorporate fun, team-building, and social responsibility, allowing participants of all ages to engage actively with their environment and community.
What is eSports GOMI?
eSports GOMI marries competitive gaming with litter picking — known as
Sport GOMI — to raise awareness about pressing environmental issues, particularly marine debris. Participants will form teams and compete to gather the most litter within the time limits set during the competition.
Teams will have a total of 60 minutes, split into two halves for litter collection, with a halftime gaming challenge featuring the popular title
Puyo Puyo eSports. This ensures that participants can enjoy a blend of competitive spirit and community service, making it a fun, accessible event for everyone.
