VASA Fitness Welcomes Michael Osanloo as New CEO
VASA Fitness, a prominent high-value, low-price (HVLP) fitness chain, has officially appointed
Michael Osanloo as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Osanloo steps into this leadership role as the company transitions from the leadership of
Rich Nelsen, who announced his retirement after an impressive eight-year tenure at the helm.
The shift comes at a time when VASA is poised for significant growth and expansion. With over 70 locations across several states, the company is well-known for its commitment to providing cost-effective fitness solutions. Osanloo's appointment signals a new chapter in VASA's journey, as he is expected to steer the brand towards even greater heights.
Michael Osanloo is recognized for his leadership skills and extensive experience in scaling consumer brands. Prior to joining VASA Fitness, he served as President and CEO of
Portillo's, a successful restaurant chain. During his tenure at Portillo's, he oversaw a significant expansion and navigated a successful public offering in 2021. Osanloo has also held senior positions at
P.F. Chang's, where he managed a global network of over 300 locations, and contributed his expertise at
Kraft Heinz and
Caesars Entertainment. His broad background includes nearly a decade as a Partner at
Bain & Company, where he provided guidance on strategy, operations, and company growth.
Dan Gill, Managing Partner at
Silver Oak Services Partners, expressed confidence in Osanloo’s ability to lead VASA Fitness, stating, "Michael is a highly accomplished operator with a track record of scaling category-defining consumer brands and delivering sustained, profitable growth." This remark highlights the expectations placed on Osanloo as VASA seeks to enhance its leadership position within the fitness industry.
Osanloo is known for his hands-on leadership approach, which emphasizes in-depth understanding of business operations at all levels. Furthermore, he prioritizes a positive company culture, operational excellence, and customer value. These principles align closely with VASA Fitness's mission, which focuses on creating inclusive and affordable fitness experiences for its members. In reference to his new role, Osanloo stated, "I'm honored to join VASA at such an exciting time in its journey. Rich has built a strong foundation, and I have great respect for what he and the team have accomplished."
During Rich Nelsen's presidency, VASA Fitness underwent significant growth, expanding its presence from 26 clubs to the current 71. He was also instrumental in launching specialized studio concepts—STUDIO RED, STUDIO FLOW, and STUDIO LFT—that further enhanced VASA's unique approach to fitness. This period also saw VASA earning the
Great Place to Work® certification for three consecutive years, which attests to the company’s commitment to employee satisfaction and workplace culture.
As VASA Fitness looks forward, the company aims to harness Osanloo's leadership to continue its advancement in the competitive fitness landscape. With a mission to uplift everyone through enjoyable and affordable fitness options, VASA remains committed to providing diverse offerings, including premium amenities and specialized training programs...
With this fresh leadership, VASA Fitness is set to redefine and enhance the fitness experience, reflecting the dynamic nature of the industry while maintaining a solid value proposition for its current and future members.
