Fermi America Partners with Hyundai to Revive Large-Scale Nuclear Construction in the U.S.

Fermi America is making significant strides in collaboration with Hyundai Engineering and Construction Co., Ltd. (Hyundai E&C) as they aim to rejuvenate large-scale nuclear construction within the United States. This initiative is embodied in Project Matador, which plans to deliver a remarkable 11 gigawatts of energy capacity through four AP1000 nuclear units located near Amarillo, Texas. This project is essential, given the growing demand for energy across various sectors in the U.S., especially in the context of technological advancements such as artificial intelligence (AI).

During a recent seminar held in Dallas, Fermi America had the opportunity to engage with industry leaders and contractors at Hyundai E&C's Large-Scale Nuclear Technology Seminar. This notable event served as a platform for discussing the necessary elements to build modern nuclear projects. The seminar featured sessions focused on construction standards, modular construction techniques, specialized mechanical installations, and workforce training for nuclear professionals—all crucial for ensuring a robust nuclear supply chain framework.
