Experience Monet's World Through Immersive Classical Music Concert at Konica Minolta Planetarium

Experience the Immersive World of Monet through Music

The Konica Minolta Planetarium in Tokyo is currently hosting the immersive concert titled "Planetarium Concert - Monet’s Classical Journey", celebrating the spectacular world of Claude Monet alongside works by his contemporary composers Debussy and Ravel. Due to popular demand, the concert has extended its showing period, offering a unique experience where classical music meets the visual artistry of impressionism.

An Unforgettable Journey through Monet's World

This concert takes guests on a nostalgic journey back to the era of Monet, reflected through classical music. It begins with Satie's poignant piece, "Gymnopédies", evoking childhood memories, and progresses through familiar masterpieces including Debussy's "The Girl with Flaxen Hair" and "Clair de Lune". As the music plays, the dome is transformed into a vivid canvas, showcasing Monet's signature themes of light, color, and the passage of time.

This year marks the centenary of Monet’s passing, making this celebration particularly meaningful. Guests will have the chance to gaze up at the immersive visuals projected across the entire dome while soaking in the rich sounds of classical music, fostering a deep connection with the artist’s life and works.

Extraordinary Performance by KokonQuartet

The concert features a special string quartet, KokonQuartet, composed of two violins, a viola, and a double bass, all played by members of Ale Art Office Ltd. Unlike typical quartets that include a cello, KokonQuartet's use of the double bass allows for a broader dynamic range necessary for recreating piano pieces and orchestral arrangements in an innovative string arrangement. This unique soundscape, set amid the serene starry sky, is designed to transport audiences into a different realm.
