Matthew Peterson's New Role at Vortex Companies
On June 5, 2026, Vortex Companies, recognized globally for its trenchless water and sewer infrastructure solutions, announced the promotion of Matthew Peterson to Executive Vice President of Products and Technologies. Having previously served as the Senior Vice President of Coatings and Rehab Materials, Peterson has played a pivotal role in shaping the company’s approach toward innovation and product excellence.
In his enhanced capacity, Peterson will now steer the overall strategic direction of Vortex's extensive product portfolio, which includes various solutions such as UV Cured-In-Place Pipe (CIPP) systems, sewer robotics, mortars, polymerics, and specialized grouting solutions. He aims to lead initiatives that prioritize research and development, product standardization, and continual performance enhancements across the organization.
Mike Vellano, CEO of Vortex Companies, expressed strong confidence in Peterson’s capabilities, stating, "Matt has consistently demonstrated a deep understanding of the technical, operational, and real-world application of our materials, equipment, and technologies.” Vellano emphasized the importance of innovation at Vortex and highlighted Peterson’s deep understanding of the company's culture and values as essential for fostering further advancements in product development.
With over 25 years of experience in the coatings and materials industry, Peterson's journey has seen him take up several leadership roles within Vortex. He co-founded Stag Technologies, a polymerics formulation and manufacturing firm that Vortex acquired in 2018. This merger brought considerable expertise into Vortex, contributing to the company’s robust portfolio of innovative products.
Ryan Graham, COO of Vortex Companies also reflected the organization’s commitment to developing its leaders from within. He remarked, "Since joining us, Matt has continuously taken on more responsibilities and delivered meaningful results in terms of product quality and revenue growth. His track record speaks volumes about his leadership capabilities, and we look forward to seeing the impact of his work in this new role."
As part of his responsibilities, Peterson will also facilitate collaborative efforts among operations, quality control, and commercial teams to ensure that Vortex's innovative technologies are efficiently deployed and refined, based on customer feedback and real-world field data. In his words, "I'm honored by the opportunity and grateful for the confidence the company has placed in me. I'm excited to work alongside our talented teams to deliver innovative solutions that extend the service life of vital infrastructure assets."
