Shirotan Funwari Store: Reopening in Harajuku's Takeshita Street with Exclusive Goods

Shirotan Funwari Store Opens in Harajuku

On September 5, 2025, Creative Yoko, a company based in Nagano, will reopen the Shirotan Funwari Store in Harajuku's Takeshita Street, located just a three-minute walk from Harajuku Station's Takeshita exit. This store marks the return of the beloved 'Shirotan' brand to the vibrant shopping district after a four-year absence, offering fans a fresh opportunity to experience the charm and whimsical world of Shirotan.

Shirotan, a character representing 'healing, comfort, inspiration, and connection', is designed to evoke warmth and happiness. The original character, an adorable 'seal', has resonated with fans since its debut in 1999. With its soft and cuddly plush toys and other merchandise, Shirotan has become a staple symbol of 'Kawaii' culture, spreading joy and comfort across various generations.

The new store features an eye-catching exterior design showcasing a larger-than-life Shirotan, inviting passersby to step inside. This striking facade is not just for show; it embodies the essence of Shirotan’s tenderness and warmth, creating a welcoming environment throughout Takeshita Street.

Upon entering, visitors will be greeted by a massive `Shirotan Tower` made of plush toys, perfect for photo opportunities. The store is designed to immerse customers into the vast Shirotan universe with interactive wall murals depicting Shirotan frolicking in water and shelving mimicking ice floes, all curated to enhance the 'oshi-katsu' experience—fans enjoying their favorite characters alongside fellow enthusiasts.

Given Harajuku's status as a cultural hotspot attracting international visitors, Creative Yoko aims to leverage this location as a flagship store that continually showcases new and exclusive Shirotan merchandise. The store will also host limited edition products and early releases, ensuring that fans can enjoy a fresh selection on every visit.
