Chocolatier Palais d'Or Introduces Japanese Tea-Inspired Chocolate Collection

Chocolatier Palais d'Or Unveils Japanese Tea-Inspired Chocolate Collection

As Valentine's Day 2026 approaches, Chocolatier Palais d'Or, a renowned chocolate specialty store founded by Shunsuke Saegusa in Suita, Osaka, is set to launch a remarkable collection themed around the exquisite flavors of Japanese tea. This collection will be available in department stores nationwide and their direct stores, allowing chocolate lovers to indulge in the interesting pairing of fine chocolates and traditional Japanese teas.

Embracing Japan's Tea Delights

The collection, titled "Japanese Taste: Tea," embodies the essence of Japan’s rich tea culture. Expertly selected teas include:

  • - Ulong Tea from Kaneroku Matsumoto-en in Shizuoka
  • - Ise Tea from Ise Uji-en in Mie
  • - Genmaicha from Yanagisakura-en in Kyoto
  • - Kaga Bocha from Maruhachi Seicha in Ishikawa
  • - Matcha from Nishio in Aichi

Each tea is carefully paired with handmade chocolate, crafted from raw cacao beans. The artisanal chocolates are designed to complement the unique flavors of the teas, resulting in a delicate balance of taste and aroma. This meticulous attention to detail highlights the rich earthy notes of both the teas and the finely sourced cacao, creating a sensory experience that fills the palate with complex yet harmonious notes.

The Signature Flavors of the Collection

1. Ulong Tea (Sayama Kaori) from Shizuoka: This oolong tea is smoky and aromatic and marries beautifully with the melt-in-your-mouth white chocolate, resulting in a harmonious fusion.

2. Ise Tea from Mie: Known as one of Japan's three great teas, Ise tea boasts strong flavors and aromas. Its combination with chocolate created from scratch adds depth to the overall tasting experience.

3. Genmaicha from Kyoto: This delightful blend features roasted brown rice, giving the chocolate a toasted flavor and delightful crunch.

4. Kaga Bocha from Ishikawa: The roasted stems of this tea contribute a gentle bitterness which balances the sweet notes of chocolate, creating a light yet pleasing profile.

5. Matcha from Nishio: Known for its vibrant flavor and aroma, this matcha is transformed into a colorful ganache, enhancing the visual and culinary appeal of the chocolates.

With a price of ¥4,320 (tax included) for a box containing five pieces, the collection serves as a perfect gift for loved ones or a well-deserved indulgence.

Purchase Locations

The chocolates will be available for purchase at several locations including:
  • - Tokyo: Marunouchi, Ginza, Aoyama stores and POP-UP events.
