Inductive Secures Top Spot in OpenADMET CYP Inhibition Challenge for Four Consecutive Times

Inductive's Triumph in the OpenADMET CYP Inhibition Challenge

Inductive Bio, a pioneering chemical intelligence organization dedicated to drug discovery, has once again proven its prowess by securing first place in the recent OpenADMET CYP Direct Inhibition Blind Challenge. This event marked Inductive's fourth consecutive victory in a series of benchmarks that evaluate artificial intelligence's role in drug discovery and has solidified its reputation as a leader in this competitive field.

The OpenADMET CYP Inhibition Challenge, a platform that allows various organizations to compete in predicting drug interactions, attracted over 270 participants from distinguished biopharma firms, academic institutions, and AI research organizations. Notably, Inductive outshone formidable contenders such as NVIDIA, which took third place, and Recursion, finishing fourth.

Understanding the Challenge

The challenge focused on predicting the inhibition potency (pIC50) of 750 compounds against four key cytochrome P450 (CYP) isoforms: CYP3A4, CYP2D6, CYP2C9, and CYP1A2. These enzymes are crucial in metabolizing a large majority of small molecule pharmaceuticals, and inhibitors can lead to potentially hazardous drug-drug interactions. Hence, identifying these liabilities early in the drug design process is imperative for researchers and drug developers.

The blind format of this competition offered a unique opportunity to assess the accuracy and reliability of ADMET (Absorption, Distribution, Metabolism, Excretion, and Toxicity) models under conditions that mimic real-world scenarios. The predictive capability of AI models is essential in streamlining drug design by allowing developers to anticipate interactions before clinical trials.

Inductive’s Performance

Inductive has now emerged victorious in several recent challenges, having topped the ASAP-Polaris-OpenADMET Antiviral Challenge in 2025, the OpenADMET-ExpansionRx Challenge in early 2026, and the OpenADMET PXR Blind Challenge just a few months prior. With each victory, Inductive's Beacon models have been validated against 19 critical endpoints in drug discovery, surpassing over 1,000 other participants.

Ben Birnbaum, the Co-Founder and CTO of Inductive, highlighted the importance of data in making advancements in AI-driven chemistry. He noted, “For AI in chemistry to match the progress we've seen in coding and math, data is the bottleneck.” Gathering quality chemistry data is challenging, as it primarily comes from expensive and time-consuming experimental practices. Inductive's strategy revolves around building large, precise datasets that enhance AI performance and predictive accuracy.

Strategic Advantages

Inductive's pioneering use of its extensive pre-competitive data consortium gives its Beacon models a significant edge. The centralized ADMET datasets, among the most diverse in the industry, enable the fine-tuning of models to align with partners' specific needs, leading to more robust predictions.

Josh Haimson, Co-Founder and CEO of Inductive, emphasized the benefits of their technology. “Our goal is to scale the impact of every scientist we work with,” he stated, underscoring the effectiveness of pairing their advanced models with Indy, an AI chemistry agent designed to enhance decision-making for chemists. This collaboration aims to optimize the drug design process, minimizing the number of cycles required to identify promising drug candidates.

The Future of Inductive

As a leading chemical intelligence organization, Inductive's commitment to integrating frontier AI into the drug discovery landscape showcases its potential for transforming how pharmaceutical sciences approach drug development. With this latest achievement, Inductive is well-positioned to continue its influence within the industry, providing innovative solutions to improve drug discovery while ensuring safety and efficacy. Their ongoing collaborations with notable biopharma partners further validate the effectiveness of their models and strategies.

In summary, as Inductive celebrates its wins, the implications for drug discovery remain profound, paving the way for smarter, data-driven decisions that enhance the development of future pharmaceuticals. The field of AI in chemistry is rapidly evolving, and Inductive stands at the forefront, ready to lead the charge toward more efficient drug design.
