Comerica Bank Partners with Jackets for Jobs for Free Homecoming Dress Giveaway in Detroit
Comerica Bank Collaborates with Jackets for Jobs for Homecoming Dress Giveaway
In a heartwarming initiative aimed at supporting local teens during the homecoming season, Comerica Bank has partnered with Jackets for Jobs to host a free two-day dress giveaway boutique in Detroit. This exciting event is set to take place on September 13 and 14, 2025, at the Samaritan Center located at 5555 Conner St., Detroit.
The boutique will feature an impressive collection of hundreds of dresses, both new and gently used, catered to a variety of styles and sizes. This initiative arises from Comerica Bank's seventh annual Prom Dress Drive fund, which took place in the spring, collecting a significant number of dresses from the community. The aim is to ensure that every student has the opportunity to participate in the high school tradition of homecoming, regardless of their financial situation.
Steve Davis, the Michigan Market President for Comerica Bank, expressed excitement about the event, stating, "The generosity shown by our customers, colleagues, and neighbors during this year's Prom Dress Drive was truly remarkable. With the overwhelming amount of dress donations, we are happy to open our boutique just in time for the Homecoming season."
The impact of this initiative extends beyond merely providing attire. Both organizations emphasize the importance of fostering confidence and support among students. Alison Vaughn, Founder and CEO of Jackets for Jobs, articulated the significance of these events, noting, "Seeing students light up when they find the perfect dress is a reminder of why this boutique matters. Our partnership with Comerica Bank ensures that more teens can create unforgettable memories during Homecoming by eliminating financial barriers."
As part of the dress giveaway, students are encouraged to register online in advance at jacketsforjobs.org to secure their spot. The opening times of the boutique are set for Saturday, September 13 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Sunday, September 14 from noon to 3 p.m.
Since its inception in 2017, Comerica's prom dress initiative has made quite an impression, having collected over 10,000 dresses in total. This year’s effort alone brought in nearly 2,300 dresses, raising the total to over 7,100 donations since the collaboration with Jackets for Jobs began in 2023.
