From January to September 2025, Costa Rica exported an impressive $992 million worth of pineapples, sending over 1.5 million tons to international markets. This fruit now accounts for 35% of the nation's agricultural exports, reaching 44 different markets globally. Among the primary destinations are the United States (54%), Belgium (12%), and Spain (8%). The industry generates over 81,000 direct and indirect jobs, boosting rural economies and fostering growth in agricultural communities through a principle of respect and quality in production.

Costa Rica's leadership in the pineapple market is bolstered by a stringent commitment to quality and environmental care. The production processes comply with certifications like GlobalG.A.P. and Rainforest Alliance, ensuring responsible agricultural practices that respect ecosystems and promote well-being for rural communities. In Spain, Bonpreu supermarkets will hold tastings from November 14 to 29 across 21 locations. In Germany, Costa Rican pineapple will be featured in Handelshof/Edeka with promotional spaces and tastings from November 17 to December 14 at 16 points of sale. In the United Kingdom, British consumers will discover the product through Morrisons from November 24 to 30 and Tesco starting December 10, emphasizing the characteristic freshness and sweetness of Costa Rica's flagship fruit.

As part of this promotional initiative, Madrid will host a cooking show featuring Chef Luis Guillermo Castro, who will prepare recipes using pineapple, yucca, and banana. This event, aimed at specialized media and industry partners, is set for November 27 at El Gusto es Nuestro - C/ Puente la Reina 25, local 1-2, Las Tablas, with participation from AhorraMás, Bonpreu, and Cultivar S.A.
