According to a report released by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare on June 25, 2025, the number of workers injured or killed in labor accidents in 2023 has reached a record high of 135,721 cases, marking the worst statistics recorded since tracking began. This alarming trend is exacerbated by a significant increase in claims related to mental health issues, with requests reaching 2,683 and approvals at 781, both of which are unprecedented.
