The Education Communication Association, based in Suginami, Tokyo, is launching a workshop titled ‘Reducing Occupational Accident Risks Through Genuine Workplace Engagement’ starting June 28, 2025. This initiative aims to address the pressing issues of workplace communication failures and a lack of meaningful engagement, which have been linked to a steep rise in labor-related accidents and mental health issues.

Current Landscape of Occupational Risks


According to a report released by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare on June 25, 2025, the number of workers injured or killed in labor accidents in 2023 has reached a record high of 135,721 cases, marking the worst statistics recorded since tracking began. This alarming trend is exacerbated by a significant increase in claims related to mental health issues, with requests reaching 2,683 and approvals at 781, both of which are unprecedented. Despite advancements in work-style reforms and an increase in annual holidays, the pressure on employees' mental health is at a breaking point, underlining the urgent need for effective solutions.
