Beyon Expands Green Data Centre Portfolio to Three Facilities

During the recent Gateway Gulf 2026 event held in Bahrain, Beyon unveiled its plans to enhance its green data centre capabilities, now adding a third facility fully powered by renewable energy. This initiative is part of Beyon’s ongoing commitment to invest in sustainable infrastructure and renewable energy solutions.

The announcement was made in the presence of H.E. Shaikh Abdulla bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, the Chairman of Beyon Group. The latest facility, located strategically to optimize efficiency, will be powered by the company's Phase 5 Solar Park program, emphasizing Beyon’s dedication to reducing carbon emissions and fostering a cleaner environment.

Investment and Capacity

Beyon’s recent expansion involves a substantial investment of approximately BD544,500 (around $1.45 million) and will cover an area of 14,000 square meters. This new installation will house 2,292 solar panels, providing a total capacity of 1.5 MWp. Once operational, it is projected to generate around 2.5 GWh of clean energy annually and decrease carbon emissions by over 1,585 tonnes each year.

The completion of this facility will bring the total number of Beyon green data centres powered by renewable energy to three. This milestone not only reflects Beyon's ambitions but also enhances its contributions toward sustainable digital infrastructure, meeting the growing demand for data, cloud, and digital services while mitigating environmental impacts.

Previous Developments

This project builds upon Beyon's successful rollout of previous solar phases. During 2026, Beyon completed Phase 4 of its Solar initiative, which successfully powered Total CX's Customer Contact Centre, making it the first green contact centre in Bahrain. This progressive journey started with Phase 3, where Beyon's Tier III Certified Data Center was converted to operate fully on renewable energy last year, showcasing a multi-year effort to boost clean energy commitments across its infrastructure.

Future Outlook

As the digital economy continues to expand, Beyon recognizes the critical role that data centres play in supporting this growth. CEO Andrew Kvaalseth emphasized that while expanding digital infrastructure, sustainability and resilience will remain key considerations for future investments. He stated, “Reaching three green data centres is a significant milestone that illustrates our focused investment in renewable energy.”

This expansion initiative is a result of Beyon’s collaboration with Almoayyed Solar, which has proven to be a fruitful partnership contributing significantly to the region's renewable energy landscape. Almoayyed International Group’s Chairman, Mohammed Almoayyed, also noted the importance of their partnership in delivering substantial and impactful renewable energy infrastructure.

Commitment to Sustainability

Beyon and Almoayyed Solar's joint efforts represent an ambitious long-term strategy aimed at not only advancing the group’s infrastructure but also fulfilling Bahrain's broader sustainability and carbon reduction goals. This aligns with global efforts to combat climate change and reflects a commitment to environmental stewardship in the digital age.

Overall, the launch of the third green data centre signals Beyon's trajectory towards a future that harmonizes technological advancements with environmental responsibility, setting a benchmark for digital infrastructure in Bahrain and beyond. As Beyon continues to integrate renewable energy into its operations, the company remains focused on its mission to create a sustainable and prosperous digital future.
