OnBuy.com, a leading European online marketplace, has officially announced its entry into the Nordic region, thanks to significant investment from logistics giant Posten Bring. This expansion aims to tap into the growing demand among retailers in Norway, Sweden, Denmark, and Finland who are in search of alternatives to established marketplaces.

Founded in 2016 in the UK by Cas Paton, OnBuy has positioned itself as an emerging player in the online retail landscape, operating in 21 countries worldwide. The decision to venture into the Nordics comes after the successful soft launch of the platform in these markets, which saw unprecedented conversion rates, indicating an eager consumer base.

Meeting Market Needs



According to Cas Paton, CEO and founder of OnBuy, the Nordic market presents a unique opportunity due to the lack of a one-size-fits-all marketplace model catering to all retailers. “There’s a significant gap in the market; no single platform meets the varied needs of retailers across the region. Many brands are increasingly looking to avoid dependency on a single sales channel, thereby creating a real opportunity for OnBuy,” he says.

Retailers in the Nordics are diversifying their sales channels by choosing a blend of global marketplaces, regional platforms, and specialized category sites. OnBuy aims to complement this landscape by offering a scalable channel that enhances retailer resilience and boosts sales. Paton differentiates OnBuy by stating, “We succeed when our sellers succeed. The marketplace has demonstrated impressive growth metrics, reporting a quarterly Gross Merchandise Volume (GMV) increase of 152% across its initial 12 European markets in 2025, followed by an astounding 374% growth in subsequent markets during its soft launch phase. This skyrocketing demand illustrates a robust appetite for OnBuy’s offerings as it expands internationally.

Investment from Posten Bring



The financial backing from Posten Bring is pivotal in supporting OnBuy’s broader establishment and market penetration in the Nordic e-commerce arena. Paton notes that they secured this investment in 2021, with a Nordic expansion as a long-term goal. However, timing was essential to ensure that they had the scale and capabilities needed for meaningful entry into this competitive region.

Paton commented, “The current timing allows us to leverage the relationships Posten Bring has nurtured with retailers and merchants in the region for years. Our model, which emphasizes transparency and retailer focus, resonates strongly with businesses, as evidenced by the ongoing development we are witnessing across Europe.”

As part of its launch strategy, OnBuy is introducing a simplified onboarding experience to help retailers quickly join the platform. This includes a time-limited subscription offer valid until July 31st, aimed at incentivizing early registration.

Additionally, the company plans to roll out tools later this year that will support cross-border sales, enabling retailers to expand their reach into new markets efficiently.
