SHEIN's Ongoing Commitment to Supplier Community Empowerment

Understanding the Supplier Community Empowerment Program



The SCEP is an extension of SHEIN's Responsible Sourcing (SRS) program, which aims to ensure fair working conditions in the supply chain. By focusing on enhancing physical facilities and implementing innovative solutions, SHEIN addresses both immediate and long-term needs of the ecosystem surrounding its manufacturing partners. This initiative is especially significant, considering the backdrop of rapid industrial changes and the increasing demand for ethical labor practices.

Facility Enhancements



As a key part of the SCEP, SHEIN has renovated and upgraded 203 facilities, spanning over 500,000 square meters. These modernized facilities adhere to SHEIN's model factory standards, emphasizing better layouts, heightened space efficiency, and innovative technologies—such as Autonomous Guided Vehicles (AGVs) for transporting unfinished garments. Since its inception, the program has seen an investment of more than $7.5 million in upgrading factories primarily located in Southern China. Furthermore, improvements have extended beyond factory floors to worker accommodation and canteen facilities, with approximately $280,000 spent on constructing or upgrading canteens and over $430,000 on better housing options for migrant workers.

Technological Advancements



In alignment with its investment strategy, SHEIN has launched the Centre of Innovation for Garment Manufacturing (CIGM) as part of the SCEP. This facility serves as a hub for research and development, dedicated to pioneering best practices in lean and agile production. With a projected funding of $40 million until 2028, the CIGM focuses on innovative manufacturing solutions, including the use of AGVs to enhance production efficiency. So far, SHEIN has invested over $23 million in this initiative, including submitting 30 patents for advanced technologies aimed at improving craftsmanship and fabric handling as of the end of 2024.

Training and Upskilling Initiatives



Recognizing the importance of education, SHEIN conducted 485 training sessions in 2024, engaging over 20,000 attendees in various topics—from operational processes and quality inspections to the latest technologies in garment production. This educational drive aims to elevate skill levels and empower workers in SHEIN's supply chain.

Supporting Workers and Families



In a redefined role, SHEIN extends support not just to workers but also to their families through several initiatives. The SHEIN Spotlight Program, established in 2021, offers financial aide to about 23,000 workers needing assistance with medical bills, children's education, or other challenges. Using a user-friendly QR code application process, the program has already aided 644 families and supported 1,329 children up to the end of 2024.

Additionally, SHEIN provides summer camps designed for children of factory workers, offering enriching educational programs while fostering parent-child bonding during school holidays. In 2024 alone, nearly 350 children participated in these camps.

To further ensure the welfare of workers' children, SHEIN is building 60 childcare centers by 2028, and as of 2024, 25 centers are operational, taking care of over 1,000 children, thus allowing parents to work with peace of mind knowing their children are safe and well cared for.
