Wynn Hosts the Second Wynn Signature Chinese Wine Awards

On April 11, 2025, the world will once again turn its eyes towards Macao as the second Wynn Signature Chinese Wine Awards takes center stage. Organized by Wynn Resorts and supported by the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), this prestigious event showcases the richness and diversity of Chinese wines on a global scale.

The Wynn Signature Chinese Wine Awards, renowned for its stringent judging criteria, is poised to be the largest event of its kind, drawing attention from wine aficionados, industry professionals, and media representatives alike. A total of nearly 900 wines will be evaluated during the awards, all of which stem from about 200 of China's leading wineries. This competition marks a pivotal moment in the wine industry, illustrating the potential that Chinese wines hold on an international level.

Setting New Standards in Wine Judging

This year's awards ceremony is positioned to outshine its predecessor from 2024. Boasting a newly formed judging panel comprised of 27 distinguished wine authorities, including 10 Masters of Wine and 3 Master Sommeliers, the event ensures that evaluations are held against stringent international standards.

The judging process adheres to the internationally recognized 100-point scale, with medals awarded based on scores that reflect the quality of each wine. Gold Medals are bestowed upon wines scoring between 95 to 100 points, with Silver and Bronze awards following. Added to the prestige of the awards, Wynn has introduced exciting categories including the “Wynn Sommelier's Choice” and “Best Young Winemaker”, highlighting the new blood in the Chinese wine scene.

Ensembles of Events Following the Awards

After the awards ceremony, Wynn will transform into a cultural hub for wine enthusiasts, with four major events scheduled for April 12. These events aim to foster dialogue among industry leaders and enrich understanding of the local terroirs that shape Chinese wines. The day kicks off with an enlightening forum led by wine expert Xing Wei MW, focused on the historical and future developments of Chinese wine.

Later, the afternoon will feature a Masterclass hosted by Julien Boulard MW and Yi Guotao discussing Marselan, a unique grape varietal championed in China. As the evening approaches, guests can indulge in two splendid award-winning wine dinners hosted at Wynn lounges. Culinary masterpieces from Michelin-starred chefs will pair beautifully with select award-winning wines, highlighting the exceptional flavors that stem from Chinese vineyards.

Acknowledging Government Support and Industry Growth

The Wynn Signature Chinese Wine Awards continue to solidify their reputation on an international platform, receiving enthusiastic support from various local governments and industry-related organizations since their inception. For instance, Yantai City has launched incentive measures for wineries that achieve remarkable results in the awards, ensuring sustainability and growth in China's wine sector.

Recognizing the awards’ impact, the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region is initiating funds to encourage participation and excellence in significant wine competitions, reaffirming a commitment to nurturing the industry.

An Invitation for Wine Lovers Worldwide

As excitement builds for the 2025 Wynn Signature Chinese Wine Awards, the 35 Gold Medal wines will be on display at the West Esplanade of Wynn Palace until April 10, offering a sneaky preview to the attending wine lovers. This occasion promises to enhance the appreciation of Chinese wines, presenting a remarkable opportunity for dialogue among industry experts and aficionados alike.

In summary, the Wynn Signature Chinese Wine Awards is not merely an award ceremony; it is a celebration of Chinese viticulture, a platform for engagement, and a commitment to excellence in winemaking.
