Mavuno Expands Its Presence in Northeast Ohio
Mavuno, a retail cannabis company rooted in Ohio, is set to enhance its local footprint by opening two new dispensaries in the summer of 2025. These new retail locations are strategically placed in Cleveland's Gordon Square neighborhood and the community of South Euclid. With its mission focused on accessibility, Mavuno emphasizes the provision of a wide array of quality, lab-tested cannabis products for both medical patients and recreational users alike.
The selection of these two sites underscores Mavuno's commitment to community engagement and economic development. Gordon Square, known for its vibrant arts scene and strong local character, represents an ideal location for connecting with a diverse customer base. Meanwhile, the South Euclid dispensary will cater to an established suburban community that boasts a positive record in economic growth.
Mavuno's corporate headquarters, located in Cleveland, is presided over by Ariane Kirkpatrick, who also leads the AKA Team—a construction management firm founded in 2009. The opening of these dispensaries marks a significant milestone for Kirkpatrick, who expresses deep pride in contributing to her hometown. "It's a dream come true to open these dispensary locations in Cleveland," she remarked, emphasizing her strong ties to the city and its community.
The launch of the two new locations promises not only to offer high-quality cannabis products but also to create numerous job opportunities. Mavuno anticipates generating nearly 50 new full and part-time positions, allowing them to further their dedication to supporting the local economy. The company strives to provide not just products but also educational initiatives centered on the safe use of cannabis.
Each dispensary will take on a unique theme that celebrates art, music, and culture, which are integral to Kirkpatrick's family legacy. Amonica Davis, the company's Chief Operating Officer and Kirkpatrick's sister, shared that the dispensaries will aim to offer an experience beyond traditional retail. "Incorporating elements of culture and education into our spaces will create an atmosphere of expression and community," Davis said.
Mavuno is working with seasoned local firms to design their dispensaries, ensuring each space aligns with their vision and creativity. Collaborations include Oliver Architecture, renowned for crafting distinctive cannabis environments; Bostwick Design Partnership, experts in design and construction; Ambitious Ink Print Company, known for its creative prowess; and Goldfarb Weber Creative Media, with decades of experience in visual storytelling.
Kirkpatrick is keen on launching these retail locations with exceptional quality and the hopes of forming collaborative partnerships within Ohio's booming cannabis sector. She believes that while they may be seen as competitors, they are part of a larger ecosystem in a rapidly growing industry valued close to half a billion dollars in the state.
With the official opening dates and addresses for the new dispensaries set to be revealed soon, interest in Mavuno’s upcoming projects is at an all-time high. To learn more about Mavuno and its expanding role in the Ohio cannabis market, visit
